The badge that Detective Molloy shows to the two CHP officers at the petrol station does not appear to be that of a San Francisco police inspector - it looks more like a bad for the LAPD. Detective Molloy, however, was investigating the murder in Nob Hill, which does come under the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Police Department.
