During Green Day's performance, the band started a mud fight with the crowd, which soon escalated with several fans jumping on the stage. During the mêlée, bassist Mike Dirnt was tackled by security, who mistook him for a one of the stage crashers and as a result Dirnt had to undergo emergency orthodontia when some of his teeth were knocked out of his mouth.
Joe Cocker, Crosby Stills & Nash, Santana, John Sebastian, Country Joe McDonald, Bob Weir of Grateful Dead, and The Band were the only acts from the original Woodstock to appear at Woodstock Jefferson Airplane members, guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady, performed with The Band as part of their all-star jam.
