To live for the weekend is a lifestyle and routine so many get unwittingly caught up in, and while Gore Verbinski’s latest endeavour A Cure For Wellness thrives in its supernaturalism, it’s grounded, persistently, by its commitment to the sheer mundanity of every day life, and it’s what makes this such an absorbing, contemporary horror.
Dane DeHaan plays Lockhart, an ambitious executive striving to get to the very top, by any means necessary, and when caught up in fraudulent activity, he can escape punishment by thrusting the company’s CEO into the limelight, and so is sent on a brief vacation to the Swiss Alps, to retrieve his boss from an elusive, idyllic wellness centre, run by the shady doctor Volmer (Jason Isaacs). The spa retreat specialises in treatment by water, though as Lockhart discovers, the methods are far from pure, and though initially anticipating a brief,...

Yeezy’s such a softie now, and it’s adorable! In his hour-long interview on ‘Kris,’ set to air today, Aug. 23, the rapper-daddy explained how his new, big family has given him something great to live for. Watch the clip below!
We’ve heard the stories about how Kanye West has completely softened since the birth of his baby girl, North West — he praises her, he’s protective of her, and he even sings lullabies to her! But we haven’t been able to see the man himself get all gooey and sentimental — until now.
Kanye West On ‘Kris’: I Have ‘A Whole Family To Live For’
Sitting with Kris Jenner on her Aug. 23 episode of Kris for an hour-long interview, Kanye had no problem getting a little gushy about Kim Kardashian and their daughter together.
The 36-year-old rapper admitted that Kim and baby North have changed his life completely,...

Over the past few years, any time a celebrity couple announces that they’re breaking up, we’ve dug deep, deep into our skin-tight jean pockets and pulled out a crumpled, decaying piece of paper. Smoothing it out onto our mahogany writing desks, we brought this tattered shred up to our nostrils, inhaled its scent, and stared at it lovingly: A photo of Heidi Klum and Seal. It didn’t matter whose marriages were splitting up, whose infidelities came to light, whose drug and alcohol habits became too much to bear. As long as these two crazy kids could make it, life would remain as harmonious as the opening chords to “Kiss From A Rose.” But this weekend, the image on that photo disappeared Back To The Future II style as word started to spread: German supermodel Heidi Klum and “Seriously, you guys, he has that’s not even funny...

The 48th annual Ann Arbor Film Festival is another exciting celebration of underground film past and present, featuring two retrospectives of two master filmmakers and dozens of short films and features from some of the most gifted talents working today.
For the retrospectives, first, Kenneth Anger will be in attendance at the festival for two programs of his classic work, including Fireworks and Scorpio Rising. Plus, for the first Anger screening, the filmmaker will be joined on-stage by film critic Dennis Lim for a discussion of his work and career. The second retrospective is of the work of the late Chick Strand, who sadly passed away in 2009. Strand’s Angel Blue Sweet Wings (1966) will actually open the entire festival, then there will be two retrospective screenings of her work, the first of which will be presented by film scholar Irina Leimbacher.

While presenting the new teaser trailer for Marmaduke, Dustin noted this could be the end of Owen Wilson's career, as though the next time we see him he'll be joining his brother Luke in those At&T commercials. Meanwhile, others on the web are acting like this movie in general is the end of the world, or at least the end of civilization. But really? Come on, you'd have loved it when you were five.
It's just another talking dog movie. You likely enjoyed a talking dog movie this past year (maybe not that one, but that other one), and it's a type of movie that's delighted families for years. Some are classics, some are cult classics and some were made well before you'd have thought -- talking dogs and talking pictures go hand in hand, after all. I think Orson Welles actually wanted to make a talking dog movie,...
