Bollywood star Bobby Deol has stolen the limelight with his performance in projects such as ‘Ashram’, ‘Class of ‘83’ and ‘Animal’. He is loving his villain era and feels he should have had the maturity that he has now during the 1990s when he did films such as ‘Kareeb’.

Asked if he loves his villain era or the 90s chocolate boy time, Bobby said: “As an actor I would pick now I feel as an actor I have learnt more… I was immature at that time (1990s)…”

Talking about a special film “Kareeb”, which released in 1998 and was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Bobby wishes he had the kind of “maturity” he has now to play the character of Birju in the film.

Singer Shivam Sharma, popularly known as Shivoryx is all geared up to release a brand new single ‘Kareeb’, marking this his first ever collaboration with T-Series. Vinod Chopra Production is the first production house in India to celebrate a retrospective of their films made in last 30 years. Starting from Vinod Chopra's first film Khamosh to all the films made under the banner like Parinda, 1942 Love Story, Pareenita, Kareeb, Mission Kashmir, Munna Bhai Mbbs, Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots - all 11 films will be showcased.

The retrospective will be done nationally in all PVR Cinemas from March 29 to April 4. The most interesting part of this retrospective is that known filmmakers will moderate a creative discussion after every film.

The schedule is as follows:

March 30 5.30 - 6.30 pm: Discussion on Parinda moderated by Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra.

7 - 8 pm: Discussion on Parineeta moderated by Sujoy Ghosh

March 31 7 - 8 pm: Discussion on Munna Bhai Mbbs and Lage Raho Munna Bhai will be moderated by Sriram Raghavan.

Vinod Chopra Films is celebrating 30 years of contribution to cinema by the banner. In association with PVR Cinemas, it is screening films like Parinda, 1942-a love Story, Parineeta and 3 Idiots at PVR cinemas across the country from April 29-March 4, 2012.

The films made before Munnabhai Mbbs have been digitally restored and their sound has been re-done in 5.1 Surround Sound.

The films produced or directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra that are a part of this initiative are – Khamosh, Parinda, 1942- A Love Story, Kareeb, Mission Kashmir, Munnabhai Mbbs, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Parineeta, Eklavya and 3 Idiots.

Screenings will be followed by discussions moderated by well-known filmmakers at PVR Juhu, Mumbai.

On March 30, from 5.30 – 6.30 pm, there will be discussion on Parinda moderated by Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra. Same day, 7 – 8 pm, discussion on Parineeta will be moderated by Sujoy Ghosh.

Rumour has it that Ranbir Kapoor has been finalised alongside Sharman Joshi for Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s (Vvc) next. The film in question is titled ‘Chithiyaan’ (Letters) and is set to be a romantic film. However, Vvc is will not be stepping into the director’s shoes, but produce this one instead.

The last tine Vvc directed a romantic film was back in 1998, in the Bobby Deol starrer Kareeb, he later produced the 2005 romantic Tagore novel Parineeta, starring Saif Ali Khan. Whilst Kareeb bombed at the box office, Parineeta went on to do well.

Although Vvc still has to decide on a director for Chithiyaan, Tanuja Chandra (Sangharsh, Sur) has reportedly been working on the script and Vvc still also has to zero in on the leading ladies for the film.

When asked to clarify the rumour, Vvc responded that his production company was in discussions and would make a formal announcement when ready.

The Deols starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana (Ypd) may have emerged a Box Office success but has now found itself in the midst of a controversy. Apparently, Tips Music Industries has filed a case against the makers of Ypd (namely Nitin Manmohan and Samir Karnik) for using few of their songs in the film without obtaining the required rights. The songs in question include popular hits from the Tips audio library such as 'Pardesi Pardesi' (Raja Hindustani), 'Chori Chori Jab' (Kareeb) and 'Teri Adaaon Pe' (Barsaat) and have been used for a few seconds in the film. Confirming this story, Kumar Taurani, head honcho of Tips Music Industries says, "Yes our lawyers have filed a case against the makers of Ypd for using some of our songs in the film without obtaining the required rights. Before the release they did approach us to use some of our songs from the Tips library in the film.

September 10, 2010: Versatile actor Manoj Bajpayi and his wife actress Neha are going to be the proud parents of their first child. The couple was reportedly spotted at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai yesterday.

The actor couple got married in 2005 and it is second marriage of Manoj. His wife Neha, has been seen in the movies like ‘Kareeb’ with Bobby Deol and in ‘Fiza’ with Karishma Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan. The actress is also known as Shabana Raza.

April 5, 2010: After a number of hurdles, Shah Rukh Khan will finally be working with Vidhu Vinod Chopra on a film.

Vidhu has wanted to do a film with Shah Rukh for years now and each time, things didn’t fall into place. Vidhu wanted Srk in Kareeb, then in 1942 – A Love Story, and even Munnabhai Mbbs and 3 Idiots but something or the other went wrong each time. They even had a fall out after Srk couldn’t do 3 Idiots.

Shah Rukh, who had agreed to do 3 Idiots, pulled out of the film when Vidhu condemned his film, Paheli. Vidhu then went on to say that Shah Rukh was trying to get Rajkumar.

Finally, the two of the best in the business will work together. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been trying to do a film with Shahrukh from a very long time, and now, he has roped in king khan to star in his next film, ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari.’

Vidhu wanted Srk for the films ‘Kareeb,’ ‘1942-a Love Story,’ ‘Munnabhai Mbbs’ and even ‘3 Idiots,’ but every time, something went wrong.

Shah Rukh had finally given a nod to ‘3 Idiots’, ut withdrew from it after Vidhu criticised his film ‘Paheli.’ There were differences between the two when Vidhu disclosed that Shah Rukh was trying to lure Rajkumar Hirani to direct films for his own production house, Red Chillies.

“There is no animosity between them now. In fact, they are very friendly with each other,” said a source.
