She had to leave it on despite the burning, as there were no other options and the paint had to be re-applied the next few days leaving O'Neill with red bumps all over her face.
A "Scarfie" is a Kiwi slang term for a university student, especially those who attend Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand.
When the flatmates are watching the rugby game on TV, the player who scores the try for Otago is Jeff Wilson who also played for New Zealand's National rugby team, The All Blacks.
Publicity for this picture declared that this was Dunedin's first ever feature film.
