Ramon the Mexican

5/10

Routine Spaghetti Western made in ordinary style with thrills , action , shootouts and violent finale

It is a thrilling western that packs a story full of violence with a maniacal gunfighter called Ramon and the subsequent fights , killings, choreographic duels , functional dramatic pace , plot twists and slick but mediocre direction . It is a medium-budget spaghetti western and results to be moderately entertaining , though drags at times , balancing ups and downs . When Esmeralda (Lindamar) walks by the river , she suffers an attempt to rape her by Ramon's brother , then Slim Baxter (Jean Louis) defends her and murders the rapist . To be aware his brother has been killed , Ramon the Mexican (Robert Hundar) seeks vengeance against Slim and his family , carrying out a massacre . As the cutthroat gunslingers enter at the hacienda , and murder the cattle baron and others in cold blood . Then Slim Baxter is wanted dead or alive : reward 1000 dollars . Later on , Slim creates a wild bunch of bandits to exact a cruel vendetta as well .

A so-so Ravioli Western that packs duels , go riding , emotion , thriller , shot'em up , romance , intrigue and some familiar faces . A simple and plain plot about the classic issue : the merciless confrontation between a cowboy and his nemesis , a rutless Mexican , and at the same time both of whom seeking for vengeance . Passable action sequences with rousing crossfire and spectacularly bloody shootouts . Highlights the exciting scenes when Aldo Berti training starring Jean Louis on the art of shooting by using a axe against Slim's hand . Furthermore , the amazing final duel between Slim posing as a reverend versus his nasty contender Ramón the Mexican . Stars a customary Spaghetti/Paella Western antihero : Robert Hundar , as he performed titles as "Antes llega la muerte¨ , ¨El Sabor de la Venganza¨ , ¨4 implacables¨, ¨Un hombre un colt¨ , ¨Dakota Joe¨, ¨Ramon the Mexican¨ , ¨California¨ , ¨My name is Shangai Joe¨ , ¨Brandy¨, ¨Man who cried for revenge" , and the classic : "Cutthroats Nine" and others directed by expert Western filmmaker Joaquin Romero Marchent , in fact Robert Hundar was his fetish actor . He's well accompanied by a plethora of familiar Spaghetti faces , such as : José Torres , Aldo Berti , Ugo Sasso , Luciano Rossi , among others.

It contains a charming and agreeable musical score in Ennio Morricone style by composer Felice Di Stefano , adding a catching leitmotif . As well as atmospheric cinematography by cameraman Oberdan Troiani , shot on location in Lazio , Roma , Italy , though a perfect remastering being really necessary because of the photography is washed-out . The motion picture was regularly written and directed by Maurizio Pradeaux , and it contains some flaws , failures and gaps . Talented and versatile Pradeaux wrote and directed a vast array of often solid and entertaining films in various genres as Poliziottesco , Macaroni Combat , Spaghetti Western , Gialli , Adventure , such as : 28 minutes for 3 million dollars , The Sons of White Fang , Leopardi di Chuchill, Ramon the Mexican , Death steps in the dark , Thrilling love . Rating : 4.5/10, this is an average picture in which the camera stalks in panoramic style throughout the Italian countryside and mountains with attractive visual skills . It will appeal to hardcore Spaghetti Western fans.
