- TriviaIn Pour Vous magazine of March 29, 1939, an article describes how a fire at the Saint-Cloud studios destroyed the original negative before the press screening. Actor Noël-Noël had to film La famille Duraton (1939) before the cast and crew could shoot a whole new version of the film.

Jean ,a bashful office clerk ,writes poetry during his working hours ,much to his boss's displeasure who always rebukes him, sneers at him and humiliates him.One fine day,he wins on a lottery : a plane,a gift he could do without. His friend urges him to take his pilot's license .He falls for an attractive female pilot ,Jeanne ,whose nickname is "death's daughter".He decorates his room with pictures of his idol. She's so daring that she wants to fly across the Mediterranean .Unfortunately ,her plane seems to have vanished into thin air and Jean, who finally passed his license, flies to her rescue...
Noel -Noel is well cast as the naive self-conscious guy who meets her opposite : a woman ahead of her time, inspired by Amelia Earhardt ,Maryse Bastié or Hélène Boucher, played by the irresistible Betty Stockfeld with a delightful English accent .Unfortunately, directing is quite unimaginative .
good moments:
-We think that Jean's plane is about to crash .Next sequence:he is lying injured on his hospital bed ,but it's not what you think it is.
-Jean thinks he's in Africa when he meets two Gendarmes from Corsica.
-the boss, singing his clerk's praises ,and pretending to like his doggerel ,after he became a fearless pilot.
Screenplay by the star ,Noel-Noel ,who wrote many of them from "Le Père Tranquille" to "La Cage Aux Rossignols" (remade as "Les Choristes ")
