This is the fictional story of five strangers picked to live in a house and have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting murdered… My Little Eye. And if you haven’t seen this one, it’s the Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Reality shows are nearly unavoidable these days, but back in the ‘90s they were still rare. Aside from MTV’s The Real World and episodes of Cops, we hadn’t been exposed to much reality programming yet. And when word started leaking out about the development of shows like Big Brother and Survivor, they sounded odd. A little twisted, potentially dangerous. Big Brother was offering the chance to watch its contestants on 24/7 live streams. Survivor was taking its contestants out to isolated locations and leaving them to provide basic survival necessities for themselves. While the concept of Big Brother just seemed weird,...

Remakes have always been and will always be a tricky proposition. You could have something as pure and wonderful as 1982’s The Thing, which is objectively better than the revered Howard Hawks and Christian Nyby version, but be trapped in purgatory for way too long before it is decided that its proper and loved. There’s a bunch that are better in different ways or at least thoroughly enjoyable in their own right like John Carpenter’s masterpiece, Philip Kaufman’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and of course David Cronenberg’s The Fly. While you can argue the horror vs sci fi merits of any of these movies, their quality can’t be disputed. When it comes down to what you can or can’t remake, I think the gloves are off at this point. There’s very few sacred cows left and sometimes a remake can help. Something...

Director Sam Raimi explains how Evil Dead 4 became Ash Vs Evil Dead, and describes the various ideas we'll never see...
Forget the Necronomicon - the real secrets of demonic invocation are held deep within confines of the Ash Vs Evil Dead season one Blu-ray and DVD release. Hidden among the special features is a commentary from director and producer Sam Raimi as he sits down with his brother Ivan, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell.
Raimi remade Evil Dead with Fede Alvarez in 2013 and the team brought Ash Vs Evil Dead to Starz. That series, which debuted last October, took a lot of the ideas that would have gone into Evil Dead 4.
“Ivan and I wrote a lot of different versions of Evil Dead as a feature in the years after Army Of Darkness,” Raimi told ScreenRant. “We’d get 20 pages into one draft and realize it was not good,...

Don't be put off by Hannibal's gore, says Laura, the real horror in this show has nothing to do with blood...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 Takiawase
Of all the shows on TV, Hannibal would be among the very last I would have imagined taking up the “dying with dignity” moral Gordian knot. But not only did Fuller raise the question, he turned it into one of the more horrific episodes thus far on the show.
Kudos to him for the excellent casting of Amanda Plummer as this week’s psychopath, Katherine Pimm. While the episode focused only tangentially on the case in front of the team, we still got a deeply disturbing portrayal of the kind of Angel of Death psychotic who regularly makes appearances on shows like Criminal Minds and CSI (fill-in-the-city). These killers often murder those who they believe wish for...

Distribution company Odyssey Media looks to be getting in on the b-movie market in a big way with four Syfy-ish flicks that showcase snow sharks, volcanic dragons, crimefighting teen vampires, and Battle Royale at the bottom of a sinkhole.
Avalanche Sharks – After an horrific avalanche, the staff members at Twin Pines Ski Resort start to receive reports of missing people and creatures that move beneath the snow. As the body count piles up, the management tries to cover up the situation, which leads to disaster on their busiest day of the year: Bikini Snow Day.
This sequel to last year’s Sand Sharks was also supposed to star Brooke Hogan, but she had to back out due to a scheduling conflict. Would we have had Mutant Enemy or Bad Robot without Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert's Renaissance Pictures? David thinks not...
After 1992's Army Of Darkness, another Sam Raimi feature film wouldn't emerge in theatres for another three years. What Raimi did with the time in between is anybody's guess - perhaps he wandered the world; maybe he dug through a peculiar collection of Spider-Man comics with most of the dialogue cut out. But what he certainly did with his Renaissance Pictures partners was bring to light a new frontier of genre TV (cue heroic music and a narrator saying, "This is the story of a time long ago – a time of myth and legend. When the ancient gods were petty and cruel, and they plagued mankind with suffering, only one man dared to challenge their power...")

All too often, I find myself late to the party. There have been a vast number of television programs, movies, books and albums I don’t get a chance to partake of right from the start. Usually, I rectify the situation as quickly as possible, but sometimes, life gets in the way, and for whatever reason, it takes me longer than expected, at which time I all too often find out that it wasn’t worth the wait, and my expectations weren’t met. You see, back in 2002, work schedules and family issues had kept me from indulging in what was being heralded as the greatest science fiction phenomenon since Star Wars. I didn’t catch Firefly for a long while, always telling myself I would eventually see it, especially since every other geek on the planet was so rabid about how wonderful it was. Last year I even had...

Manborg Trailer. Steven Kostanski’s Manborg (2011) movie trailer stars Matthew Kennedy, Adam Brooks, Adam Camara, Jeremy Gillespie, and Stephen Gomori. Manborg‘s plot synopsis: “A soldier, brought back to life as a cyborg, fights alongside a band of adventurers against demon hordes in a dystopian future.”
Ahahaha. This has got to be one of the silliest and funniest movie trailers I have seen in some time, intentional or not. When they said throwback to the 80′s, they really meant it. this reminds me of Cleopatra 2525.
More on what Manborg has to offer:
Manborg will include: kung-fu killing, stop-motion monster battles, hoverbikes, robots, demons and a character called Doctor Scorpious.
Watch Manborg movie trailer and leave your thoughts on it below in the comments section. For more Manborg photos, videos, and information, visit our Manborg Page. Manborg has no Us release date yet but will be released through Raven Banner Entertainment.

Filmmaker Sam Raimi, along with producing partner Rob Tapert, continues splitting time between star-packed big-budget movies (like the upcoming Oz The Great And Powerful) and cinematic fare for the small screen. Revisiting the action-girl genre where they made "Xena" a cheesy sensation (and "Cleopatra 2525" to a lesser extent), Raimi and Tapert are heading to Starz with a live-action version of the anime "Noir", about two sexy female assassins piecing together...

There’s a lot going on in Mongolian Death Worm, the underachieving Syfy original movie directed by Steven R. Monroe. Is it the story of a self-described "scoundrel" hunting for treasure? Or is it the tale of a dedicated doctor trying to save a village from pestilence? Or is it the account of oil exploration run amok that is also a metaphor for the way humanity is looting the resources of Mother Earth to deadly consequence? One could say it's all those things, and maybe that's why Mongolian Death Worm fails to entertain as well as it might. Or maybe it's just because the filmmakers never deliver any more than is absolutely necessary. Yeah, that's probably it.

If Haley Reinhart had an ounce of anxiety going into Thursday night’s American Idol results-show telecast, it must have dissipated as quickly and completely as constructive advice from Steven Tyler’s tongue by the time the first commercial break arrived. Indeed, right at the outset of the episode, stark messages blared across the screen (“No one is safe!” “Expect the unexpected!”) that all but guaranteed Haley — who’d been a bottom-three dweller for the first two weeks of the season 10 finals — wouldn’t be spending another night in the fantasy suite with her old suitor, the Silver Stool of Doom.

Bitch Slap
Stars: Julia Voth, Erin Cummings, America Olivo | Written and Directed by Rick Jacobson
Three badass chicks – stripper Trixie (Voth), corporate powerbroker Hel (Cummings)and psychotic drug-runner Camero (Olivo) – crash at a remote desert hideaway with a plan to steal $200 million in diamonds from a ruthless underworld kingpin. But as allegiances change and bitter truths are revealed, the girls’ plan spirals dangerously out of control, forcing them to face a variety of villains much worse than themselves and leaving the very fate of the world in the balance.
Bitch Slap is a strange film, it combines a story and plot straight out of a 60’s b-movie, with modern green screen technology and CGI, both of which are used incredibly unconvincingly in a style not seen since the risible Mutant Chronicles. In essence a rift on the grindhouse cinema of yore, and exploitation movies in general, the film mixes busty...

With Im Global/Bombshell Pictures' gleefully titillating feature Bitch Slap bowing today in limited theatrical release and via Video on Demand, this scribe sat down recently with the makers and stars of the film to discuss their ‘guns, boobs, and brawls’ opus and was thrilled to do so.
Why? In this writer’s estimation, Bitch Slap has set the bar in that sub-genre of film and now holds the heavyweight belt as the ‘Quintessential Guy Flick.’ This is fortuitous, not only for audiences with high expectations (the flick’s trailer and teaser art have been burning up the Internet for months) but also for the filmmakers, whose goal was to create ‘The Best Bitch Fight in Film History.’

Guilty pleasures come in all forms. A few quickly spring to my slightly demented mind: s'mores, Bo Derek movies, Debbie Gibson (she's from my hometown and the girl can still sing), muffin tops, Xanadu. And these days, my television guilty pleasure is Legend of the Seeker, the campy, cheesetastic fantasy souffle from Spider-Man auteur Sam Raimi and his longtime creative partner, Rob Tapert. Together, these guys have given us such delicious TV junk food as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Cleopatra 2525 and more, and Legend of the Seeker is right up there with the best of 'em. The show is based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books, and it follows Richard (Craig Horner), who's destined be the titular heroic Seeker; Kahlan (Bridget Regan), a bewitching, butt-kicking Confessor and Richard's would-be great love; and Zedd (Bruce Spence), an eccentric and powerful wizard who accompanies Kahlan and Richard on their adventures.

Synopsis:
In this claustrophobic thriller, a team of vampire hunters who must infiltrate a nest of the undead to save one of their own. A beautiful vampire slayer is held prisoner by a powerful, blood-drinking king who is preparing to do battle with a force that sends even the children of the night scurrying into the shadows.
Lowdown:
Much of modern cinema was built on awful horror films of yesterday, from Ed Wood to Roger Corman and even to an extent John Carpenter, so it’s almost reassuring when you hear about a box set of direct-to-dvd horror films, and a film like Brotherhood of Blood is included. The film couldn’t have cost more than $50,000, and most of that had to go to the “big” names attached like Sid Haig, Ken Foree, and even TV’s Victoria Pratt. The film isn’t exactly cinematic art in any way, but...

New Line lines up donors for 'Y' adaptation
D.J. Caruso and Carl Ellsworth, the team behind the hit thriller Disturbia, are reteaming for Y: The Last Man, New Line Cinema's adaptation of the acclaimed Vertigo comic book. J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and David Goyer are producing.
Caruso is developing and directing, with Ellsworth on board to write.
The comic, created by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, centers on Yorick, an escape artist who is the last survivor of a mysterious plague that has killed every single male mammal in the world. With his male pet monkey, he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world's male chromosomes.
Mason Novick is exec producing.
Caruso and Ellsworth became hot properties with Disturbia, the teen-skewing Rear Window-like thriller made for $20 million that has grossed about $80 million.
Caruso, who also directed The Salton Sea and Two for the Money, is repped by CAA and attorney John LaViolette.
Ellsworth began his Hollywood career working on Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then going on to Cleopatra 2525, on which he worked with Sam Raimi.
