No doubt you'll recognise all sorts of actors from English and Welsh television in this absolute classic. Mam played by the incredibly filthy actress who played Doris in Gavin and Stacey is the true star and you can see the roots of that character here.

Every time I watch re-runs of Gavin and Stacey I am reminded of how much I miss this gem of a programme. Probably only broadcast in Wales, the stories are hilarious, the characters unique and the acting outstanding. Laugh out loud moments largely due to the brilliant Margaret John who plays the ex-stripper matriarch and mother of the hapless Richard "Fagin" Hepplewhite (Robert Blythe). The series was created by the mega under-estimated Boyd Clack who also plays the Police Sergeant. If you get the chance to see this show, sit back, relax with a comforting drink and be prepared to marvel at the genius writing. By the way Margaret John plays "Doris" in Gavin and Stacey.

High Hopes is a glorious comedy, I have wonderful memories as a student watching this, and loving every second of it.
As a Welshman I can appreciate the characters, jokes and humour, and relate to them. Every single character is truly wonderful, big, zany and full of life.
If I'm honest, what made it for me was Mrs Hepplewhite, her stories from the past were side splitting, I was lucky enough to serve Margaret John, and ask about her time on the show, you can see how very obviously she and the others loved their time working on this.
It's wrong that it's never had a dvd release, it's enormous fun, and I'm sure would be loved, not just in Wales. 10/10
