Andres Wood gives us a very interesting Movie, with a beautiful cinematography and excelent performances. The movie tells us the story about Anita, a young girl who had to live with a farmer family in the south of Chile. In the first years she lived like a daughter, but when the lady of the house died she had to take the control of the house and she became in Pablo Casas Cordero´s lover. When she got pregnant she left her in the middle of a forest... Beautiful could be the word for this chilean film. Andres Wood can touch our heart with this story and give us a good exercises of the new Chilean Movies. You have to see it if you want to know something more about the new ways of the chilean filmography.
This movie had plenty of shortcomings. Chile's cinema industry was only reborn in 1990, with the return of constitutional democracy. The Pinochet years were full of censorship and dozens of Chile's best artists, directors, and filmmakers were exiled. Now many have returned and are making films. Chile's film production has gone from a couple per year to about 16 per year. It is a growing cultural phenomenon with still scarce resources. This movie is a solid step in the right direction. Not bad for a film with a sub-million dollar budget.
