All evening, the Oscar ceremony appeared on course for a Scarface reunion of Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer to introduce the final award for Best Picture.

Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from James Corden’s primetime special and final installment of The Late Late Show on CBS.
So long, James Corden. The affable Brit who took over for Craig Ferguson in 2015 ended his eight-year run as host of CBS’ The Late Late Show on Thursday.
To help say goodbye to its late-night star, CBS set aside an hour in primetime for a pre-taped special that included video montages and candy-coated skits so Corden could show off his singing chops. First up: a musical number with Corden, who stood on top of the old Television City building to sing a rendition of Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” — but in this case, it was changed to “Last Show.”
That was followed by a playful bit with Tom Cruise, who agreed to perform with Corden in a Hollywood staging of The Lion King. With Cruise as the warthog and Corden as the meerkat,...

Though their circumstances, carnal endurance and cheekbones suggest otherwise, Outlander‘s Jamie and Claire are, in fact, only human. Isn’t it nice to see, as we do in this week’s episode, that a bit of stress and a lack of sleep make them as susceptible to the same everyday bitchery as the rest of us?
Perhaps my current situation makes me a little sensitive to this kind of thing: Having a 1-year-old daughter offers me many gifts, but an overabundance of patience is not one of them, and my by-all-measures-amazing husband sometimes becomes the unintended target of my exhaustion.

Lance Guest plays a teen obsessed with an arcade game named “Starfighter” that turns out to be an intergalactic training vehicle. Thanks to his high scores, he’s whisked away by avuncular alien Robert Preston to join other warriors in protecting his home planet. Director Nick Castle (best known for portraying Michael Meyers in Halloween) was one of the first directors to make extensive use of CGI and that, combined with its Archie Andrews in Space storyline, helped make the film a modest hit that would gain a substantial afterlife due to its ubiquitous presence on early cable broadcasts.

Six seasons are done - now it's time for a movie, right? Or is it season 7? We've compiled some quotes from Team Community...
Another season of Community has drawn to a close. It's not the first time the show has offered a sense of finality, so Emotional Consequences Of Broadcast Television may not be the end of the line, after all. Indeed, Community, generally, refuses to die. So, what's being planned? Does the show have a future, still?
The show's creator Dan Harmon was quick to shut down any rumours, telling Twitter "I'm gonna delete my Twitter app and take a couple weeks off the internet and no interviews and I love you."
Yahoo, who saved the show and funded season 6, were a bit more keen to chat, and released this statement: “With the season six finale of Community airing today, we’re continually excited by how much fans are engaging with the series.

Some five years after production and its subsequent release into the rest of the world, Veronika Decides To Die will finally land on U.S. shores. The Paolo Coehlo adaptation lensed back in 2008, and stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as a young woman – Veronika – who decides to end her life. Didn’t really have to spell that one out for you; it’s in the title. After swallowing a bunch of pills, she wakes up in a mental hospital and discovers she’s only got a few weeks left to live.
To reignite interest in the movie, Yahoo! has dropped a new trailer, and it definitely serves to point out the gap between production and release. Five years on the shelf and its cast, which also includes David Thewlis, Melissa Leo and Parenthood duo Erika Christensen and Jonathan Tucker, look significantly younger than they do now. That’s the passage of time for you.

Community, the show that will never die, is returning next spring for its sixth season (bringing it that much closer to fulfilling its campaign promise of #SixSeasonsAndAMovie), but the premiere will find the acclaimed comedy in different shape than we last left it.
For one, the Dan Harmon-created series has jumped from NBC, which axed it last summer, to a new home on Yahoo Screen. For another, series regular Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley Bennett, opted not to return for the sixth season, leaving a considerable void. As such, it makes sense that the first images from season 6 want to show us one way in which Community lovers can expect to see a new kind of show.
There’s not much context in the two released shots, which introduce new series regulars played by Keith David and Paget Brewster. David, a thematic replacement for departed star Chevy Chase...

When cancelled NBC sitcom Community was picked up by Yahoo! Screen in a rather remarkable eleventh-hour resuscitation, loyal fans of the beloved series likely breathed a deep sigh of relief and assumed that, finally, everything was going to be okay for the Greendale gang. Sadly, that’s not the case today, as series regular Yvette Nicole Brown has confirmed that she will not be reprising the role of Shirley Bennett in Community‘s upcoming sixth season.
Brown, who has been with Community since the start, opted to depart the show in order to care for her ailing father. Speaking with TV Guide, which broke news of the exit, she said:
“My dad needs daily care and he needs me. The idea of being away 16 hours a day for five months, I couldn’t do it. It was a difficult decision for me to make, but I had to choose my dad.

When Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor drops at the end of September, it will immerse fans of Tolkien’s world within a storyline that centres upon a resurrected ranger named Talion and his spiritual ally, Celebrimbor. Together, they will take players on a voyage through what is touted as a very interesting and well-written narrative, all the while battling Sauron’s evil forces.
It’s this relationship between the ‘living’ hero and his Wraith-like compadre that takes centre stage in the game’s most recent trailer, and by switching the focus back to their two stars, Monolith has pulled the proverbial curtain strings back and allowed disbelief to be suspended for a short period of time. The result is an interesting, but brief, interview with voice actors Troy Baker (Tyrion) and Alastair Duncan (Celebrimbor), during which they analyze and discuss their characters and the game’s general narrative.

Warner Brothers Television announced its 2014 Comic-Con lineup on Wednesday (July 2) afternoon, a slate that includes a whopping 15 shows, including five new series premieres. The Wbtv Comic-Con lineup includes the studio's regular Wednesday Preview Night pilot screenings, the previously announced Saturday night event featuring "Gotham" and "The Flash," plus a panel with Mike Tyson. Yes. Mike Tyson is coming to Comic-Con. Thanks, Wbtv! Other Wbtv odds and ends include "The Following" getting a Hall H berth on Sunday, "The Big Bang Theory" doing a second straight "writers" panel, multiple opportunities to see an "iZombie" pilot that hasn't been sent to critics and separate pilots for "Constantine" and "Arrow" from that Saturday event (but no individual "Flash" and "Gotham" panels. Community has been rescued from cancellation once again, this time by Yahoo, which will produce a 13-episode sixth season.
Community Officially Granted Sixth Season
Yahoo announced the exciting news Monday evening. Yahoo and Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind Community, promised fans that the sixth season would feature the return of creator Dan Harmon and cast members Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong.
“I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!” Dan Harmon said in a statement.
McHale, who stars as former lawyer and resident cool guy, Jeff, also released a statement, saying, “’The reports of our cancellation have been greatly exaggerated’…. #SixSeasonsAndAMovie is real.

Community fans can finally breathe. Just when things were beginning to really look hopeless, Yahoo as stepped in, and is going to give us the chance to see the sixth season.
Community fans are certainly a vocal crowd, and the show has managed a sort of cult status, in addition to ratings that are, in today’s world, actually not all that bad. McHale and crew will get at least 13 more episodes of community college (because who knows what will happen if the run does well enough) in their continuing effort to never graduate from anything.
The news makes for an interesting step for Yahoo Screen, and hopefully one that marks a future trend.
Get all the info below, and make sure you keep your sights set on Community. Given the last six or seven episodes of the show, I have a feeling this could be one of those truly...

Second Update: TheWrap has a source close to the talks, who says reports that Hulu has dropped out of talks to pick up Community were false. Another, still unknown entity is also interested in the show. With the clock ticking down towards June 30th, when the cast deals expire, a deal needs to come soon or not at all.
Update: Entertainment Weekly confirms that talks with Hulu have largely stalled, but that another party is still in talks. Hulu reportedly “still wants to be part of the conversation.” Don’t give up hope yet, Community fans!

Few comedians currently have the sway of Kevin Hart, who has recently delivered a string of huge hits like Think Like a Man, Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, Ride Along and About Last Night. And with Think Like A Man Too actually outpacing both its predecessor and surprise smash Ride Along in pre-sales going into the weekend, it’s a safe bet that Hart isn’t giving up his newly claimed throne as king of comedy quite yet. Now, we’ve got our first look at another Hart vehicle - The Wedding Ringer, in which he stars with Josh Gad.
The first trailer, though predictable, features some pretty funny jokes – “It looks like the cast of Goonies grew up and became rapists,” says Gad’s character of a group of bums that Hart’s best-man-for-hire wheels out as potential groomsmen. It looks like Hart has another hit on his hands,...

It’s sad that many gamers find it surprising when an established franchise takes a quality step into the world of video games, especially since many of these series are full of interactive potential. Luckily, J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series has had many successful releases, including both movie tie-ins and original works that delve deeper into the rich mythology that millions of fans love.
Since Monolith Productions took over work on the intellectual property’s video game license, fans have been anticipating their in-development project, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which looks to bring a grittier perspective to the archetypal fantasy landscape. With Oscars on their mantlepieces for The Descendants, and summer hit The Way Way Back under their belts, writer-director duo Nat Faxon and Jim Rash have established themselves as two of Hollywood’s most exciting new filmmakers. In The Descendants, they struck an extraordinary balance between humor and heartbreak, and The Way Way Back confirmed that Faxon and Rash were as capable behind the camera as they were with pen and paper. Now, it appears that for their next project, action-comedy The Heart, the duo are aiming for a mini-Way Way Back reunion, with news that Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney have both joined the cast.
In the film, written and directed by Faxon and Rash, Kristen Wiig stars as a cash-strapped woman who agrees to begin trafficking black market organs with a mysterious stranger. Rockwell will play said stranger, which doesn’t come as too much of a surprise,...

Given its consistently low ratings, it's somewhat astounding that "Raising Hope" managed to get four often terrific seasons on Fox. It's still sad to report that "Raising Hope" will have its series finale on Friday, April 4 with an hour-long send-off. "On behalf of myself, Greg Garcia and 'Raising Hope's' amazing cast and crew, I would like to thank our audience for tuning in and supporting us over the last four seasons," blurbs executive producer Mike Mariano, who took over as showrunner for Garcia this season. "We planned our Season Four finale with this possibility in mind, and hope our loyal fans enjoy the way we’ve chosen to say goodbye to the Chances and to Natesville. Thanks again, and we’ll see you in syndication." Often aired in erratic patterns with lengthy hiatuses, doubled-up episodes and early finales, "Raising Hope" will still hit 88 episodes by its finale. The blue-collar sitcom will bow out with an hourlong farewell on Friday, April 4, featuring back-to-back episodes from 9-10 Pm. Created by Greg Garcia, Raising Hope was the first comedy series in a while to stick at Fox. It proved a good utility player, doing well behind New Girl but also as a 8 Pm anchor of the Tuesday comedy block last season. “Getting to know and love the Chance family on Raising Hope has been a sweet, hilarious ride,” said Fox chairman Kevin Reilly and COO Joe Earley. “Thanks to the incredibly talented cast — along with Greg, Mike and the entire crew — for making us laugh for four fantastic seasons.” Raising Hope had the odds stacked against it going into Season 4. Zap2it spoke with "Psych" actress Kirsten Nelson in preparation for her directorial debut on Wednesday's (Feb. 26) episode of the USA comedy. An interview about that process and the end of "Psych" is coming later in the week, but one of the other topics we touched on was her memorable guest-starring role on "The West Wing."
In the Season 2 finale of NBC's political drama, titled "Two Cathedrals," Nelson played the younger version of Mrs. Landingham, secretary to President Bartlet who in present-day had just been killed in a car accident.
Nelson tells Zap2it that it was actually due to Kathryn Joosten, the actress who played present-day Mrs. Landingham and who passed away herself in 2012, that she auditioned for the role.
"That is still one of the roles that's closest to my heart. I knew Kathy Joosten, we worked together on a very short-lived series called 'Thanks' for CBS,...

Never one to rest on his laurels, acclaimed director and producer Jason Reitman has added The Possibilities to his large slate of projects, snapping up the new novel before it has even been published.
The Possibilities is the second novel from Kaui Hart Hemmings – whose 2007 debut The Descendants was adapted into an Academy Award winning screenplay by Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash for Payne’s 2011 movie of the same name. Indian Paintbrush Productions, along with Reitman’s Right Of Way production company, have optioned Hemmings’ follow-up and attached Reitman to direct – though it will not arrive in bookstores until May 2014.

Sam Rockwell’s inability to secure an Oscar nomination for a career filled with hilarious and dazzling turns in films like Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Moon and The Way, Way Back has not stopped the actor from attracting a large fanbase and much love from the independent film community. In Park City to promote Lynn Shelton’s new comedy-drama Laggies, Rockwell is now starting to drum up support for The Eel, which he will star in for writer/director Roberto Bentivegna, whose script appeared on the 2012 Black List.
The Eel should be a darker turn for Rockwell, who will play an escaped convict drawn back into a life of crime when a corrupt sheriff kidnaps the heiress to an oil fortune. As Kevin Walsh, one of The Eel‘s producers, told Deadline, Rockwell’s role “of a criminal on the run… reminded us of Drive and Cool Hand Luke.

I’ll preface this by saying that compiling a list of the top 25 Community episodes so far has been the most difficult task I have ever encountered as an entertainment journalist. The cult NBC comedy, which premieres its fifth season tonight, has maintained a rabid fan following for a reason; its unique blend of character-driven humor and meta commentary puts it in a totally different class from any other half-hour comedy series currently airing on television.
Community arrived in 2010 to little fanfare, but since then, showrunner Dan Harmon and his talented writing staff have taken risks with their show that have transformed it from a standard sitcom into a heartwarming, hilarious, complex and frequently brilliant comedy that stands tall among the greats of television history. Why? Because Community embraces the opportunity to take tremendous risks in terms of storytelling and character development. What other show has the audacity to construct...

I’m not going to lie – Hell Baby is made for a specific audience. One part goofy 80s horror, one part spookily inspired mindless comedy, Reno 911! alums Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant deliver a maternal story with a sinister bite unlike any other minds could produce. We’ve all seen their fake police skits, some of which include a naked man with a birdhouse on his pecker or Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) from Community tied to a bed with a dildo on his forehead, and that’s essentially the same kind of comedy these two serious horror fans bring to their very own brand of horror/comedy. Babies sure are little devils, but Lennon and Garant prove your screaming toddlers could have turned out a lot meaner, more vicious, and a hell of a lot more demonic.

Fear not, faithful friends! I am here to save the day by attending and reporting back for you. And I am psyched about it. Yes, I’ll probably need to hibernate my con exhaustion away afterwards, but man, I love the energy and excitement of a good con. And good thing, too, because this year, I’m planning to attend The North American Discworld Convention; San Diego Comic Con; Dragon*Con; Baltimore Comic Con; the Small Press Expo; New York Comic Con; and Capclave. NADWCon and Sdcc are right around the corner, so I’m extra excited about those! Here’s what I’m looking forward to:

Apparently the only movies I’m reviewing these days are extreme horror films and touching coming of age stories, with the latter being much less frequent but entirely necessary to break up the countless attacks of violence and perversion. Since I’ve recently reviewed Hatchet III and The Purge, indulging in Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s The Way, Way Back was a welcomed change of pace, especially since I was still riding the whole coming of age genre high that was The Kings Of Summer. I mean hell, how could I not be excited after Oscar winning writers/first time directors Nat Faxon and Jim Rash floored audiences at Sundance with their wet and wild dramedy, striking a deal with Fox Searchlight for $9.75 million?

Chicago – Witches were always my monster of choice as a child. Their façade of maternal warmth that routinely gave way to fiendish malice was both scary and oddly funny. Actresses love playing this archetype because it allows them to break all the rules followed by photogenic starlets. The fun had by everyone in a witch’s cape—from Margaret Hamilton to Angelica Huston—is timelessly infectious.
