    The ethography of an era

Despite having a lot of extravaganza and in some moments the plot is predictable (at least) 'Epanastatis Popolaros' features in very much detail the social enviroment of the Ionian Islands during the turn of the 19th century, only a couple of decades after their Unification with Greece. The younger members of the bourgeois class resist against the representatives of the old regime, the nobility of their island. Of course, love story is there (Kostas Prekas-Betty Livanou), but again it serves the above mentioned direction. On the whole, this film has a lot of 'undercovered' meanings, despite following the conventions and the genre of its era.
