When YS: Book 1 and 2 came to North America, it was released in 1990 on the TurboGrafx-16 console, this version features limited English voice acting which was one of the first videos games to feature voice acting during a time period when you had to read the English text on the screen.
You can no longer buy the TurboGrafx-16 version on the Nintendo Wii as the Wii shop channel has shutdown.
You can also buy the remake versions either on the Nintendo DS or Playstation Portable. But be warned that there's no voice acting, it has much more profanity, 2 of the female Goddesses are shown fully naked in a few cutscenes, there is now blood and graphic violence shown in the game as you kill the monsters,
The graphics, scenery and character portraits are now highly detailed, some of the music pieces featured in the game is missing, the DS version now has 2 screens one for the map and one for the game Adol scrolls on and it features some extra stories, extra missions and time attack mode not featured in the original TurboGrafx-16 version.
This game will be included in the TurboGrafx- 16 mini console.
