Manoj Bajpayee is familiar with the crime genre. His breakout role was that of Bhiku Mhatre in one of the greatest Hindi films of all time, Satya, where we got a peek into a version of Mumbai’s underworld. Then he was in Shool, which focused on crime and politics in Bihar. He played Veerendra Pratap in Raajneeti, which was an amalgamation of Mahabharat and The Godfather. He was integral to the evolution of the landscape of Hindi cinema that was triggered by Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur duology. He is currently the face of the Silence franchise. Through The Family Man and Killer Soup, he has shown he is incredibly comfortable with flexing his acting chops through the episodic format on the small screen. So, I think it’s pretty normal to be hyped about his next project. But I’d advise you to keep your excitement at bay,...

Sunday night is here, and that means a mixture of content for people to watch on TV. There’s a small change to the CBS schedule tonight, Sunday, Nov. 10.
There won’t be a new episode of The Equalizer on tonight. Instead, a rerun of Yellowstone is going to take its place. This could just be a scheduling thing, but it seems weird since there’s a new episode of Tracker. It could be linked to the fact that there’s a special 90-minute episode of 60 Minutes, which pushes Tracker to the 9 p.m. Et/Pt slot.
Tracker, Mrs. Doubtfire, and more
That’s right; there is a new episode of Tracker on tonight. We’ll see Colter head out on a case in a small mining town. Of course, small mining towns are not all that welcoming to people, especially when there is someone different. Is it that...

I love spy movies. Realistic spy movies, unrealistic spy movies, whatever—you name it and I’m there. If the entertainment quotient isn’t undermined too much by the government propaganda, you have my curiosity and my attention. I have watched the Bond movies, the Mission: Impossible films, the Bourne movies, the Kingsman films, the Yrf Spy Universe stuff, the Jack Ryan movies, Munich, Bridge of Spies, the Spy Kids movies, and more. But for some reason, when this genre enters the small screen and takes the episodic route, it loses my attention. I liked the first season of Jack Ryan, but with every subsequent installment, it got worse. Mr. & Mrs. Smith was horrible. The difference in quality between the first and second seasons of The Family Man was hilarious. Now, we have a TV series franchise in the form of Citadel. Ironically, I have no memory of watching the...

The Russo Brothers’ are known for their world-building powers, but the Citadel spy universe they’re designing for Amazon MGM Studios marks a new approach altogether. Whereas the Marvel Cinematic Universe was carefully constructed over multiple movies and many years, Citadel has sped up the whole process for a content-hungry streaming world.
Citadel had first emerged as an idea back in 2018/2019, with development beginning in earnest after Amazon’s Jennifer Salke had approached the Russos about a creating an international spyverse. While the MCU and DC universes have decades of material to work from, Citadel would start from scratch.

Not quite the Greatest Of All Times, but Vijay’s new sidekick of film has plenty going for itself for those who crave for his antics. The screenplay doesn’t stop at being an out-and-out Vijay vehicle: it takes time to stop and actually punctuate the hagiography with inhouse references. For example, in the gripping if far-fetched climax, Vijay asks his screen daughter who her favourite is.
“Thalapathy,” she moans, and then serves a head bang to the villain who has her in his grips.
Oh yes, cricketer Dhoni also shows up for the baggy climax.
It would be no exaggeration to say that this movie about gross exaggerations leaves no stone unturned to ensure that Vijay fans go home satiated. As for the rest, do they really matter?
As a non-Vijay fan I must say the way Vijay plays the younger of his two roles, a terrorist-assassin-disruptor named Jeevan...

Manoj Bajpayee, known as one of India’s finest actors, is adopting a mass-market action hero persona in upcoming film “Bhaiyya Ji.”
The story, where Bajpayee’s character faces off against a powerful man and his henchmen to seek revenge for wrongs done to his family, is literally ripped from the headlines. The actor read the real-life story in a newspaper several years ago and it stayed with him.
“I wanted to do an independent film and really explore this mindset of revenge, where it comes from, really analyze it and find the psychology of revenge in the human mind, that fascinated me,” Bajpayee told Variety. While shooting courtroom drama “Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai” (2023), the actor mentioned it to director Apoorv Singh Karki, who was similarly fascinated by the idea.
“I just wanted his opinion on it. But this guy jumped up and said, ‘I’m a big fan of mass entertainers,...

Who would have thought that one of the more enduring family movies in the last 20 years would come from Brett Ratner and star Nicolas Cage? Indeed, The Family Man was only a modest success when it came out over the holiday season in 2000, but it has since inspired rip-offs and remakes and is a beloved classic for many of us.
In it, Nicolas Cage plays a high-flying businessman named Jack Campbell, who doesn’t appreciate the little things in life, such as Christmas. It’s lonely at the top, but he consoles himself with his Ferrari, penthouse apartment in New York, and hook-ups with women such as supermodel Amber Valletta, who has a small role as his bedmate early in the film. Yet, being alone on Christmas Eve, he does a good deed when he intervenes in a convenience store standoff by showing empathy towards a wired, gun-toting customer, played by Don Cheadle,...

Do you look forward to seeing Jack Skellington discover the true meaning of Christmas in the Christmas Movie Classic The Nightmare Before Christmas or watching Kevin McCallister take down the Wet/ Sticky Bandits in Home Alone 1&2 or perhaps seeing Clark W. Indian filmmaker Ravi Muppa will adapt his Oscar-qualifying short “Incognito” into a feature-length film.
The executive producers of the short, Indian auteur Anurag Kashyap (“Kennedy”) and Ranjan Singh (“Udta Punjab”) under the Flip Films banner and Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza of Invention Studios, are reuniting to produce the feature.
In “Incognito,” a lonely motel receptionist makes an extra buck by selling the hidden-cam videos of his unsuspecting guests on the internet. But when one such guest turns out to be a young girl at risk of being trafficked, he faces a crisis of conscience and a mission.
“Incognito” has been selected at more than 20 international film festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs Shortfest, Tirana and LA Shorts, and is a 2024 Oscar contender in the live action short film category, where candidates from India include “Nocturnal Burger” and “The Broken Table.”

Between the Sundance-laurelled “Against the Tide,” “Pathaan'”s thundering box-office and Netflix’s quietly gripping miniseries “Trial by Fire,” India is on a roll in Q1 of 2023, consolidating the recent red-carpet success of “Rrr” and “All That Breathes.”
In theory, that slate should be bolstered further by the return of nifty genre technicians Raj & Dk – writer-director-producers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. – who helped renovate the haunted-house movie with 2018’s “Stree” before handing Prime Video one of its biggest Indian hits with “The Family Man.”
Yet the oddly flat “Farzi” suggests the limitations of the pair’s approach – and that even streaming’s brighter minds might be prone to burnout.
Until now, the pair’s formula has been comparable to Xzibit’s on “Pimp My Ride”: take a clapped-out banger of a story and extensively redesign it. “Farzi” pushes its luck from the off with its uncommonly generic, get-rich-or-die-trying plot.
