The main character is public relations advisor Ben Mertens, who was modeled after Ben Korsten, in the sixties the pr-man behind several influential KVP (Catholic People's Party) politicians.
Former Minister Marga Klompé was furious when see saw the movie because the film suggested she was one of the politicians on whom public relations advisor Korsten exerted influence. She was at the time very busy with her image and therefore didn't need Korsten.
