Okay, let's face it, we've all seen this before. Every single scene. But Shah Rukh Khan adds such a refreshing and believable twist to the story that you'll be seeing it again for the first time. I was roaring with laughter the whole movie. No one knows what anyone else is doing in this movie, everything is a case of mistaken identity. But the humor is it's strength. I absolutely recommend, it's not intended to be taken seriously, just enjoyed. Fun songs, cute dances. Wow, I liked it! Am I biased because I'm a Shah Rukhaholic? You bet! You will find yourself singing "Baadshah" in the supermarket the next day, remembering a scene and chuckling to yourself out loud.

Only a complete curmudgeon could dislike this film. It's a brilliant slapstick parody of the spy/private eye genres with the Baadshah of Bollywood himself, Shahrukh Khan, hamming it up gloriously as a slightly dim-witted private detective who is innocently drawn into a conspiracy to assassinate the prime minister of India. The hilariously complex plot of mistaken identities and spy/counter spy is so twisted it took me several viewings to actually make it all out. (The fact that I was having to read subtitles didn't help) Surprisingly, the story holds together much better than it seemed to at first.
Bollywood is notorious for stealing from Hollywood, and Baadshah is no exception. (For all you other non-Hindi speakers, "Baadshah" means King, like the one in a deck of cards) The opening dance number, Main Te Hoon Pagal, is clearly inspired by the "Cuban Pete" song from "The Mask", and later on whole scenes are copied nearly frame for frame from a couple of Jackie Chan movies: Mr. Nice Guy and Rush Hour. The results are just great good fun.
The high point has to be the campy, outrageous "Baadshah, O Baadshah" nightclub number with Khan strutting his stuff amid a huge chorus of dancers in a whirl of silver lame and pyrotechnics. For a guy who claims to be a very bad dancer, he has an easy grace and agility that makes him a joy to watch.
Khan's performance in Baadshah is perfect. The comedy is fantastic, and there isn't a dull moment. The supporting cast, including Twinkle Khanna, Johnny Lever (if you can stand him), and the ever-essential villain, Amrish Puri, are wonderful. Like most Hindi films, there's a mish-mash of everything you can imagine: drama, slapstick comedy, teary-eyed pathos (gotta see the Khan cry at least once in every film), romance (gotta see the hero dance around trees at least once in every film) high-tech James Bond gadgets, hilariously bad special effects; Baadshah has it all!

Ever since I saw the trailers heralding the release of Shah Rukh Khan's new film, Baadshah, I was captivated. Great music from the title song, combined with a glimpse of the beautiful stranger, Twinkle Khanna.
When the film finally released, it lived up to every expectation. Feet tapping music, with hilarious scenes, and suspenseful drama, that can be compared to the mood of Bazigar. Although the film is clichéd with the appearance of a young child, the stunning Twinkle makes up for it.
Shah Rukh, as always, is on top form; his previous work has perfectly moulded him for the role Baadshah, playing both the hero and joker.
Twinkle Khanna, some have criticised her as being OK for her role, yet I disagree, she's fantastic, giving an aura of mystery and glamour in every scene.
The rest of the cast blend perfectly with the story, with the villains having evil and humorous characteristics.
It is a family film, however, towards the end as the plot thickens the children might be confused as to what is happening.
I think this film deserves 8/10, go and watch it!

I love watching this movie because it's just so funny. Sharukh Khan was fantastic in the film and so was Jhonny Lever. My favourite part in the film is when Sharukh Khan lies to Twinkle Khanna about being blind and Sharukh Khan and Jhonny Lever and they partners pretend that Sharukh Khans house is the hospital.I also enjoyed the fighting parts because it was well put together. Sharukh Khan was good at playing the Baadshah and the comedian. Sharukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna were good working together.Shahrukh Khan is a detective and while he is doing his detective work he falls in love with Twinkle Khanna. Amrish Puri was a good villain in this film as he is in nearly all of his villain movies.

This has to be the best comedy movie of SRK till date! Abbas-Mustan created a comic film ahead of its time, may be this was the reason why film didn't do well in theaters after release. Anyway, I love watching this movie on television whenever possible and it has fair audience viewership on TV. It's one of this movies like Andaz Apna Apna which didn't do well at release but rocks the Television screen till date. Except for few glitches and songs, the film is one of best comic movies from 90's. SRK has played the comic-detective character bang on! And almost all the co-stars have played their roles to perfection. Especially the Johnny Lever and gang. Twinkle looks hot and beautiful. The film also has a logical story flow, of course you may find some illogical comedy but that's accepted in a comic film. The film successfully touches the elements of humor, thrill and bit of romance. Recommend you to watch this movies with you friends, you are sure to get some laughter riot.

Baadshah (Emperor) remains the cult classic Bollywood by Abbas-Mustan duo with SRK in the lead. Even if you watch it with the modern lens, 20+ years later, it will remain the same - Khan's quirky character, the zesty genre-banding plot, original comedy, and the good-old 90s vibe that just brings back the memories. TN.
This was the first movie which makes me fall in love with Shahrukh Khan in my childhood. I was not a huge fan of romantic movies at that time and never seen Shahrukh.. this was the first instance where I found him genuinely an entertaining, not only because of him but the plot and screenplay of this movie was fantastic and I still enjoy watching this movie on tv even in 2022..

Listen, I do not care if this film is ripped off from a bunch of different Hollywood films, it is still a cult classic and I shall enjoy the songs Main To Hoon Pagal and Cuban Pete from Jim Carrey's The Mask equally. The picturization of Main To Hoon Pagal is awesome.
SRK's comic skills as an actor are on full display here and he is aided by fantastic material and supporting cast. The writing is hilarious and leads to one amazing comedy thriller.
This film has so much of franchise potential. If this was a Hollywood film, they would have made a series of sequels with the titular character already. Toffee bombs, chipkali joote (lizard shoes), X-ray goggles, gadget car need to make a comeback.

Movie was way ahead of it's time had it been released today it would have done remarkable business.
It's simply Outstanding in all the departments, superhit songs, outstanding direction, superb acting by all the artists ,specially Sharukh in all its glory the reason why he became a Superstar, not to miss all the supporting actors who have done a fantastic job.
Never a dull moment in this movie, it's still a treat to watch on television many times even after so many years of its release.

Baadshah is a comedy about a young and enthusiastic, small time detective, trying to make it big. The comedy is good, and Shah Rukh has given an excellent performance. However the direction is not upto the mark, and that is bad for the movie.
Still it is a ShahRukh's movie and he has done ample justice to his role. His fans will definitely like him in the movie.

A brilliant comedy timing and perfectly landed jokes work nicely. A full Paisa wasool movie. A beautiful lead pair and melodious songs. And what a casting. I love it.
We humans did several mistakes in our past but this is one of the biggest mistake we did by not loved this movie at the time of realising.
This movie deserve better place. Whenever you want some light hearted comedy movie you can Bing watch this.
Every song are perfectly choreographed and sung by the all the respected singers.
That aeroplane comdey scenes are one of my favourite among all good scenes.
I think Abbas mustan should direct sequel of this movie.
We want Badshah 2.0.

I loved watching this film. Let's face it, we've all (Nepali and Indian) watched this film before and it still is as fun as it was back in the day.
Loved Baadshah when I was a kid and loved Baadshah now. The goofy detective, SRK as the title character is just so, so good. It's funny, entertaining and investing throughout. And the songs are so damn amazing. Abhijeet in all of the songs was phenomenal. Specially, Woh Ladki Jo, it's a standout songs among other equally great songs.
And Twinkle Khanna, she's so beautiful and so charming. I'd never saw her as a Bollywood sensation but from today onwards, I'll always see her as a diva. Such a beautiful actress and her work is as beautiful as she is. She's fantastic, she has owned every scene which she is in.
The film is so funny, it's a slapstick comedy which works in every aspects. There's comedy, there's crime and there is romance. The chemistry between SRK and Twinkle Khanna is amazing. Also the supporting characters, Johnny Lever, Amrish Puri, and others were great.
It's an out and out entertaining film which is just so damn fun with it's crime comedy elements.
A brilliant rewatch.
