This film begins with a vote being taken to see who will succeed the elderly Yakuza leader of the Nakamitsu Organization who is currently on his deathbed in a local hospital in Osaka. Initially, another man had been designated to become the new leader but his imprisonment has allowed others to compete for the position instead. In the meantime, his wife "Fuyu Segami" (Shima Iwashita) has been handling all of the affairs when it comes to the Kawaoe faction of the Nakamitsu Organization. But it hasn't been easy and Fuyu harbors a great deal of resentment to those who have been maneuvering to take power just 6 months before her husband is supposed to be released. So, when a woman named "Natsumi Ise" (Rino Katase) tells her that she wants revenge for the murder of her husband by the same people trying to take control, the two of them quickly become allies in a struggle, not just for power, but for survival as well. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that this 4th film in the Yakuza Ladies series shares a great deal of commonality with its predecessors in that they all revolve around a woman attempting to maintain control over their specific clan until their husband or lover is released from prison. However, none of them seem to bear a relationship with one another. For what it's worth, I believe that in this particular film, the performance of Shima Iwashita definitely made a difference as she essentially dominated every scene she was in with her beauty and charm. That being said, I found this film to be equal to the first and second films of this series and I have rated it accordingly. Above average.
