In 1943, the German War Ministry gave a First Class Medal with a Red Ribbon to their most "active" breeding officers, which they hired through a letter in Berlin. Hans, followed by his pregnant wife, visits one of his dedicated targets who turns out to be only thirteen years old
This story is based on the real hiring letter which was found on a German Prisoner of War in 1944.
The film was a low budget, high quality and talented endeavour and it is evident behind each scene. The small cast of strong characters and direction of Elisabeth Lochen do a great job capturing the image and emotions, grafted from words in a letter. I worked on the short film during in a Los Angeles warehouse during the hot summer of 1998. If you ever get a chance to see this short film, it is well worth the time.
