This film, along with Glitter (2001), were the first films that would be theatrically released after the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
The film's marketing suffered because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Leelee Sobieski and Diane Lane were scheduled to appear in talk shows to promote the film the very day of the attacks, and their appearances were cancelled that day for obvious reasons.
Premiered in the same weekend as Hardball (2001), also starring Diane Lane. Hard Ball was #1 at the box office and The Glass House #2 that weekend.
