The best translation for this series is The Trials of the Yamada Family, which is what the series deals with. Only the trials are funny, and a little on the absurd. The father is a manager in constant fear that a young woman will take his job, and he has to cover for his boss who got his mistress pregnate. His wife has gone back to teaching, and can't keep her students, his older daughter is currently anti man (not gay), his younger daughter can't pass school, and his bother is getting married to the woman of his dreams. How these people deal with the situations are not typical, and that is where the fun lies. Instead of doing it easy, they take the hard way. I recommend this series if you want a funny glimpse into a Japanese family.
