a great first effort by jason phillips, "left overs" is an original and hilarious take on those post-college years we all go through. phillips dishes out familiar scenarios and delicious banter that kept me laughing. despite it's bevy of crude jokes and boy talk, the film manages to appeal to the girls who love these guys by spiking the story with some true emotional grit. above all, it's a story about relationships ... twisted as they may be! particularly great performances by mark fite and todd stanton, with hilarious support from jason cross.
Through personal experience, LEFTOVERS conveys a certain warmth and familiarity that many films lack. It's time spent with friends - some bizarre, some confused, some lost - yet somehow you don't regret any of them. The dialogue is direct with a spontaneity which keeps you in the moment yet always guessing what's next. There are genuinely funny moments in LEFTOVERS and the mostly unknown cast brings a natural quality to the story. Smooth soundtrack as well.
The characters are very funny, realistic and personal. An excellent ensemble cast brings a life and reality to LEFT-OVERS that is seldom seen in other films like it. I enjoyed this film very much because I related to it a great deal.
I loved this movie! Hell, I think I live it almost every weekend! The writing is marvelous and the characters are genuine and lovable. Over all there's a light-hearted party vibe but with an endearing message under it all. It will definitely become a party classic in my video library!!!

It's hilarious... I'm still laughing. For a truly "independent" film this one doesn't leave you feeling empty. (Hence the title, I guess.) the characters and their interaction are funny and real. The writer/director has a sense of humor that is not only apparent in the writing but in the directing and camera work as well. I'll never look at cheese the same way again.
