David Fincher’s Seven – or Se7en – is finally arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in January 2025 – more info on the UK release here.

It’s perhaps little surprise that director David Fincher has been pretty exacting when it comes to bringing his first hugely successful movie – Seven – to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. He was particular about how the film was presented to exhibitors in the first place, and Seven – or Se7en, if you must – was originally due to be getting a remastered home formats release in 2024.

Turns out that it’s just about missing the Christmas period, and will now be going on sale from 6th January 2025 in the UK. Fincher is said to have been very hands on with overseeing the transfer.

Previously-announced collectors’ sets have been cancelled, and instead you’re going to have two options when it comes to buying Seven on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Here at JoBlo Horror Originals we talk a lot about gateway horror films. Depending on the generation you belong to, that can be a few different things. Kids of the 70s will always have Jaws as an introduction to horror and that movie is still a great way to introduce newer generations to the genre after almost 50 years. Last week’s Halloween-themed episode of “9-1-1,” Buck (Oliver Stark) brings what he thinks is a dummy skeleton to a haunted house attraction hosted at the 118 fire station. To everyone’s horror, he later learns that the dummy is actually a real skeleton belonging to an Old West outlaw named Billy Boils, who Buck believes cursed him for accidentally removing one of its arms.

TheWrap spoke to the show’s prop master Bryce Moore, and his assistant Megan Casey about how they “Frankensteined” the skeleton. They also did a convincingly gruesome show-and-tell with it over Zoom and explained all the work put into the show’s other big prop from Season 8, Episode 5, an oversized pumpkin that gets stuck on a guy’s head.

Director Steven Soderbergh has been on a roll recently, having released at least one film a year since 2017 and sometimes two. These have included Logan Lucky, Unsane, High Flying Bird, The Laundromat, Let Them All Talk, No Sudden Move, Kimi and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

His latest film, Presence, has a unique twist to it: the story’s shot from the perspective of a supernatural entity that stalks an ordinary suburban family. After debuting at Sundance early this year, the movie was picked up for distribution by Neon – the company that recently enjoyed a huge hit with serial killer horror, Longlegs.

Jodie Foster is opening up about her filmmaking process and why she never fully “fell in love” with the acting side of the industry.

During a recent conversation with Jodie Comer for Interview magazine, the Oscar winner admitted she’s “not naturally an actor.”

May 2 sees the premiere of The Idea of You, a romantic-comedy that features Hathaway as a 40-year-old mom finding romance with a 24-year-old boy band singer (Nicholas Galitzine). Having saved the medium of film forever, Prime Video is celebrating with some big time library titles this month as well. Jodie Foster is undoubtedly one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood. The actress made a name for herself by playing the young prostitute Iris Steensma in Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, after having appeared in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore two years prior. But, while her filmography includes some important titles like The Accused (1988), Sommersby (1993), Maverick (1994), Contact (1997), Anna and the King (1999), Panic Room (2002), Flightplan (2005), Inside Man (2006), The Brave One (2007), Nim’s Island (2008), Carnage (2011), Elysium (2013), The Mauritanian (2021), and Nyad (2023), her best-known role is that of Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, which also brought her her second Oscar. Recently, she also appeared in True Detective: Night Country.

But, while she has definitely gathered a large number of major roles, she has also – as you might have assumed – rejected and lost several other major roles, and from what we know now, one of these roles was a major Star Wars role.

David Fincher is a philosopher as well as a perfectionist. When asked about the significance of his 8K remastering of “Seven” (premiering April 19 at the Chinese IMAX in 4K as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival), he told IndieWire, “If you think of it in string theory, it’s like a volumetric capture of where all these careers were at, and what these people wanted and needed and infused the thing with.”

Fincher was referring, of course, to Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, and the rest of the cast and crew who made his breakout 1995 serial killer neo-noir. The film was a brilliant analog product of the era (with only seven weeks of prep) but also ahead of its time in conveying a dark, creepy, nihilistic police procedural that got under our skin like no other film.

“It is what it is, warts and all,” Fincher said.

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about this week’s episode of “Chucky” Season 3, which aired on USA and Syfy last night and was expected to be available on Peacock today. After all, we had previously been told that all new episodes of “Chucky” would be available for streaming the day after they aired, an exciting change from previous seasons of the hit horror series.

And while last week’s mid-season premiere of “Chucky” indeed did arrive on Peacock last Thursday, this week’s episode – titled “Panic Room” – is currently missing from the service.

Stewart shared that the luxurious brownstone used as the sole location for the home invasion feature was actually entirely built on a soundstage and in fact was not set in New York City but rather Manhattan Beach.

“It was, like, a fully functional brownstone built on a soundstage in Manhattan Beach,” the Oscar-nominated actress said. “Every outlet worked, it was mind-blowing. It was in a time where, like — well, I guess people do this. You just have to be, like, one of five men who are allowed to do it. But Fincher is one of those people, and he just built.
