David Fincher’s Seven – or Se7en – is finally arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in January 2025 – more info on the UK release here.
It’s perhaps little surprise that director David Fincher has been pretty exacting when it comes to bringing his first hugely successful movie – Seven – to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. He was particular about how the film was presented to exhibitors in the first place, and Seven – or Se7en, if you must – was originally due to be getting a remastered home formats release in 2024.
Turns out that it’s just about missing the Christmas period, and will now be going on sale from 6th January 2025 in the UK. Fincher is said to have been very hands on with overseeing the transfer.
Previously-announced collectors’ sets have been cancelled, and instead you’re going to have two options when it comes to buying Seven on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

Here at JoBlo Horror Originals we talk a lot about gateway horror films. Depending on the generation you belong to, that can be a few different things. Kids of the 70s will always have Jaws as an introduction to horror and that movie is still a great way to introduce newer generations to the genre after almost 50 years. Two of my favorites from the 80’s, and two films that both my sons have seen, are The Gate and The Monster Squad. Again, both great and both still hold up as not only fun horror flicks but great ways to ease in the younger crowd. As a kid born in 1985, I am much more a child of the 90s so even if you hadn’t read the title of the video you clicked, you could probably guess that I saw Jurassic Park in theaters, it scared and enthralled me and made me want more.

Last week’s Halloween-themed episode of “9-1-1,” Buck (Oliver Stark) brings what he thinks is a dummy skeleton to a haunted house attraction hosted at the 118 fire station. To everyone’s horror, he later learns that the dummy is actually a real skeleton belonging to an Old West outlaw named Billy Boils, who Buck believes cursed him for accidentally removing one of its arms.
TheWrap spoke to the show’s prop master Bryce Moore, and his assistant Megan Casey about how they “Frankensteined” the skeleton. They also did a convincingly gruesome show-and-tell with it over Zoom and explained all the work put into the show’s other big prop from Season 8, Episode 5, an oversized pumpkin that gets stuck on a guy’s head.

Having starred in films like Panic Room and Into the Wild, Kristen Stewart was already an established actress when she landed her role in the Twilight Saga. However, it goes without saying that Stewart became an international icon alongside her co-star Robert Pattinson, following their respective roles as Bella and Edward in the vampire romance movies.

Jodie Foster's career has been famously wild. As a child, she appeared in lightweight Disney films like "Napoleon and Samantha" and "Freaky Friday," while also taking the world by surprise playing an underage sex worker in Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver." Throughout the 1980s, she successfully continued acting as she grew, appearing in films like "Foxes," "The Hotel New Hampshire," and "The Accused," for which she won her first Academy Award. In 1991, Foster won her second Oscar for playing FBI cadet Clarice Starling in Jonathan Demme's bleak serial killer thriller "The Silence of the Lambs," one of the few films to win "The Big Five" Oscars. That same year, Foster made her directorial debut with the child-prodigy drama "Little Man Tate."
From then on, Foster was a Hollywood staple, leading multiple high-profile studio dramas like "Maverick," Robert Zemeckis' "Contact," and "Anna and the King." She also worked with...

Australian actress Nicole Kidman began her professional career in 1983 with an appearance in the holiday film "Bush Christmas," and followed it immediately with Brian Trenchard-Smith's very watchable teens-rule actioner "BMX Bandits." She was 16 at the time. Kidman was a striking screen presence, however, and she immediately began a busy career that hasn't slowed since. For six years, Kidman was all over Aussie TV and cinema, with the actress finally breaking into Hollywood in 1989 with her role in the taut thriller "Dead Calm." In 1990, she was cast opposite Tom Cruise in Tony Scott's "Days of Thunder," and her superstar status was cemented. She also began dating Cruise that year, and they married in 1990, staying one of Hollywood's most visible power couples for a decade.
Kidman was drawn to a great variety of projects, appearing in costume dramas, comedies, FX-based blockbusters, Oscar bait nonsense, and bonkers experiments like "Dogville," "Fur,...

Composer Howard Shore likes to sleep on it.
“I try to get in touch with my inner feelings,” he said at the Zurich Film Festival, explaining his preferred method of working.
“If you think about cinema, you go into a dark room and all this imagery starts appearing. You are in a dream-like state and I like to use that idea when I write music for film. There is some napping involved, you try to be very relaxed and imagine what the piece could be. And then I set to work with my pencil, creating the actual score to what I am dreaming,” he said.
“I don’t study a film: I listen to it. I listen to the rhythm of the actors, the sounds. I kind of imagine the visualization, writing to this more abstract idea in my mind.”

David Fincher has firmly established himself as a master of blending art and commerce. It’s especially impressive considering his output has been uniformly dark, moody and disturbing, with flashes of wit and satire thrown in. Let’s take a look back at all 12 of his films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1962, Fincher cut his teeth at special effects house Industrial Light and Magic, working on such films as “Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi” (1983) and “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” (1984). He left to pursue a career in directing, making his mark with a commercial for the American Cancer Society that depicted a fetus smoking a cigarette. He co-founded Propaganda Films, a production house for music videos and commercials that employed future filmmakers Spike Jonze, Michael Bay, Antoine Fuqua, Alex Proyas, Mark Romanek, Zach Snyder and Gore Verbinski. David Fincher is known for his impeccable attention to detail and technical precision. Hence, when actress Rooney Mara was being considered for the role of Lisbeth Salander in the film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fincher reportedly gave her a ‘laundry list’ of things she should prepare for.
Mara was unrecognizable as the anti-social hacker Lisbeth who crossed paths with Daniel Craig’s Mikael Blomkvist. The actress reportedly beat many potential candidates such as Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Sarah Snook, and Elliot Page among others.

Steven Soderbergh directs a supernatural thriller with a unique perspective twist. Here’s the first trailer for Presence, starring Lucy Liu and Julia Fox:
Director Steven Soderbergh has been on a roll recently, having released at least one film a year since 2017 and sometimes two. These have included Logan Lucky, Unsane, High Flying Bird, The Laundromat, Let Them All Talk, No Sudden Move, Kimi and Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
His latest film, Presence, has a unique twist to it: the story’s shot from the perspective of a supernatural entity that stalks an ordinary suburban family. After debuting at Sundance early this year, the movie was picked up for distribution by Neon – the company that recently enjoyed a huge hit with serial killer horror, Longlegs.
According to Deadline, The synopsis reads as follows:
A family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they’re not alone, but rather surrounded by a mysterious entity.

A few months ago, I wrote an article listing ten movies that – despite being well known – were difficult to find (legally) on any streaming service or even on disc. Those titles ranged from Ron Howard’s Cocoon to movies like Dawn of the Dead (the original). In the comments, many of our readers chimed in with their two cents on films they’ve found difficult to find over the years, so here are a few more challenging-to-find flicks, some of which may surprise you.
Panic Room:
The fact that David Fincher’s Panic Room has never been issued on Blu-ray blows me away. It’s been announced a few times, but a physical release never seems to happen (although you can stream it in HD pretty easily). What gives? You’d think the fact that it has Fincher’s name on it, and stars Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Forest Whitaker,...

Kristen Stewart has been in the acting business since she was a child, gaining prominence at the age of 12 for her role in Panic Room. Yet, no amount of being a famous child actor could have prepared her for the fame and popularity she received after starring in Twilight. Skyrocketing to international fame with her portrayal of Bella Swan, Stewart, like any other actor found it difficult to navigate through her newfound success.

Jodie Foster is opening up about her filmmaking process and why she never fully “fell in love” with the acting side of the industry.
During a recent conversation with Jodie Comer for Interview magazine, the Oscar winner admitted she’s “not naturally an actor.”
“I just got stuck in it when I was three,” she explained. “I probably would’ve been a lawyer or a college professor. It’s just not my way. So I loved the technical sides of filmmaking, but I never fell in love with the acting part. It was against my nature, and I think has made me a richer person because of it.”
Throughout what has become a decades-long acting career, the True Detective star said she’s also learned a lot about herself, noting that she used to isolate herself from her co-stars on set.

Even though Jodie Foster worked with multi-take director David Fincher on “Panic Room,” that doesn’t mean she necessarily enjoys that kind of process. Speaking with Jodie Comer for Interview magazine, Foster admitted that she tends not to get too in her own head about acting and, at one point in her career, would even insulate herself from her co-stars.
“I’ve always made movies by myself, where it was just about my character, and I didn’t have to deal with the other actors,” Foster said. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to understand that was selfish of me, jealously guarding something that I didn’t want to share. Now I’m learning to enter in and say, ‘How are we together and dynamic?’ Instead of it all being about me. It has been so interesting, because now I meet all these actors that do everything differently.

Few singers were as good at making music videos as Madonna. Madonna’s “Express Yourself” inspired one of her best clips but it has a major error. The video doesn’t totally sync with the music! One of Madonna’s most famous producers explained why this is the case.

Shep Pettibone is a dance music artist who is most known for his work on Madonna’s “Vogue,” as well as some of her lesser-known singles such as “Deeper and Deeper,” “This Used to Be My Playground,” and “Erotica.” Before that, he crafted remixes for the Material Girl. During a 2015 interview with Billboard, Pettibone explained how one of his remixes created an incongruity in the “Express Yourself” music video.

If there’s one thing you can say about Kristen Stewart, it’s that she refuses to be pigeon-holed. Jodie Foster is undoubtedly one of the biggest female stars in Hollywood. The actress made a name for herself by playing the young prostitute Iris Steensma in Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, after having appeared in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore two years prior. But, while her filmography includes some important titles like The Accused (1988), Sommersby (1993), Maverick (1994), Contact (1997), Anna and the King (1999), Panic Room (2002), Flightplan (2005), Inside Man (2006), The Brave One (2007), Nim’s Island (2008), Carnage (2011), Elysium (2013), The Mauritanian (2021), and Nyad (2023), her best-known role is that of Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs, which also brought her her second Oscar. Recently, she also appeared in True Detective: Night Country.
But, while she has definitely gathered a large number of major roles, she has also – as you might have assumed – rejected and lost several other major roles, and from what we know now, one of these roles was a major Star Wars role.

David Fincher is a philosopher as well as a perfectionist. When asked about the significance of his 8K remastering of “Seven” (premiering April 19 at the Chinese IMAX in 4K as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival), he told IndieWire, “If you think of it in string theory, it’s like a volumetric capture of where all these careers were at, and what these people wanted and needed and infused the thing with.”
Fincher was referring, of course, to Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, and the rest of the cast and crew who made his breakout 1995 serial killer neo-noir. The film was a brilliant analog product of the era (with only seven weeks of prep) but also ahead of its time in conveying a dark, creepy, nihilistic police procedural that got under our skin like no other film.
“It is what it is, warts and all,” Fincher said.

We’ve been getting a lot of questions about this week’s episode of “Chucky” Season 3, which aired on USA and Syfy last night and was expected to be available on Peacock today. After all, we had previously been told that all new episodes of “Chucky” would be available for streaming the day after they aired, an exciting change from previous seasons of the hit horror series.
And while last week’s mid-season premiere of “Chucky” indeed did arrive on Peacock last Thursday, this week’s episode – titled “Panic Room” – is currently missing from the service.
So what’s going on here? The official @PeacockTVCare customer service account over on Twitter has been responding to fans who are wondering why they can’t stream this week’s episode of “Chucky” on Peacock, and their answer indicates a shift from the original plan.

The story threads converge in “Panic Room,” the sixth episode of “Chucky“ Season 3. In the previous episode, a death row-bound Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) demanded that a dying Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) “go down in a blaze of glory and take as many with you on your way out.” Considering the last episode also ended with the gruesome eye gouging of President James Collins (Devon Sawa), “Panic Room” plunges the White House into chaos and terror as Chucky lays the groundwork for his most ambitious plan yet.
Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows) continues to reveal his true colors, giving First Lady Charlotte Collins (Lara Jean Chorostecki) no room to grieve, let alone process what’s happened, before he enlists a clean-up crew to cover up the President’s death. Charlotte attempts to shield her children from the truth, even as she can barely hold it together, but finds herself plagued by...

The back half of “Chucky” Season 3 will bring three more episodes to the table in the coming weeks, with “Panic Room” set to air this Wednesday, April 17.
Syfy has provided us with a sneak peek clip from the new episode this afternoon, wherein a wheelchair-bound Chucky shares his renewal of purpose with Henry. Check it out below.
“Everyone dies, kid. Some of us more than once. But I realize now, the point is, to make a difference while we’re here. To leave a mark,” a wheezing, coughing Chucky explains to Henry.
In the mid-season premiere last week, a dying Chucky placed a call to an imprisoned Tiffany, wherein Tiffany encouraged the killer doll to go out in a blaze of glory. That advice is sure to make these final three episodes of “Chucky” Season 3 quite explosive, as Chucky has nothing left to lose. And he wants to remind the...

Life is finding a way to fill the cast of the new Jurassic World sequel from the original Jurassic Park co-writer David Koepp. The new film has been courting actors like Scarlett Johansson, and recently, it is being rumored that Dev Patel and Colman Domingo are being sought out for roles. It’s a new era for dinosaurs. Jurassic World: Dominion concluded the sequel trilogy and in their alternate universe, humans and Earth’s prehistoric creatures are now living side-by-side in the modern world. But hey, at least we don’t have to worry about locusts anymore, right?
Sources have recently told Deadline that Jonathan Bailey, known for projects such as Bridgerton and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, is currently in talks with Universal about possibly taking the lead role in the popular dinosaur franchise. The one thing that has kept Chucky alive over the years isn’t voodoo magic but rather the endless ideas of Don Mancini, who consistently keeps the franchise fresh by placing Chucky into wildly unexpected new situations. We’re now three seasons deep into Mancini’s “Chucky” television series, which currently sees the killer doll rampaging through the White House.
What’s next for Chucky? Mancini recently teased that he’s in the early stages of development on a new movie, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of ideas for the small screen slasher series.
Speaking with The Direct, Mancini makes it clear that “Chucky” Season 4 has not yet been ordered by USA/Syfy, but he’s hopeful and excited about the idea he’s already conjured up.
“There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it,...

Kristen Stewart Says David Fincher Is ‘One of Five’ Directors Who Can Still Build Big Practical Sets
Kristen Stewart is calling out the gendered double standard for film budgets when it comes to crafting large practical sets.
During the “SmartLess” podcast, the former child actor and “Love Lies Bleeding” star reflected on working with auteur David Fincher for 2002 thriller “Panic Room” alongside Jodie Foster. Stewart shared that the luxurious brownstone used as the sole location for the home invasion feature was actually entirely built on a soundstage and in fact was not set in New York City but rather Manhattan Beach.
“It was, like, a fully functional brownstone built on a soundstage in Manhattan Beach,” the Oscar-nominated actress said. “Every outlet worked, it was mind-blowing. It was in a time where, like — well, I guess people do this. You just have to be, like, one of five men who are allowed to do it. But Fincher is one of those people, and he just built. You could live in it.

For actress Kristen Stewart, starring in “Twilight” has been both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, the worldwide popularity of the five-film vampire series helped to make Stewart one of the most recognizable actresses on the planet. Unfortunately, with that fame came the tabloids, and before long, Stewart became better known for being in gossip magazines than for her considerable skills as an actress, seemingly destined to be tagged forever as “that girl from ‘Twilight.'” Fortunately, a number of international directors such as Olivier Assayas and Pablo Larrain came to the rescue, looking past the gossip to see the potential and creating roles for Stewart that were finally worthy of her talents.
Stewart’s filmography encompasses a wide range of genres, from biopics and mother/daughter dramas (“Still Alice”) to romantic comedies and nail-biting thrillers (“Panic Room”). While she has inhabited a wide variety of characters,...

Kristen Stewart became widely known after starring as Jodie Foster’s daughter in the 2002 thriller ‘Panic Room.’ But it was her role as Bella Swan in the ‘Twilight’ series, starting in 2008, that made her a global star. The success of ‘Twilight’ boosted her career and made her one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses.
Before ‘Twilight,’ Stewart appeared in indie films like ‘Speak’ and ‘Into the Wild,’ which shaped her career trajectory. While she’s been in various movie projects, including both big and small productions, she hasn’t been part of a superhero film, particularly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This was something she talked about on the ‘Not Skinny but Not Fat Podcast.’

Don’t expect to see Kristen Stewart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the actor is no stranger to big budget Hollywood tentpoles, from the “Twilight” movies to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” she recently said on the “Not Skinny but Not Fat” podcast that the studio system would have to dramatically change in order for her to sign on to a Marvel tentpole. That, or Greta Gerwig would have to be directing.

Gareth Edwards directs the new Jurassic World film project from a script by Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. Universal is looking for dinosaurs to roar in theaters on July 2, 2025, giving the team a little more than a year to assemble the feature.

McKenna Grace reprises her lead role as Phoebe in “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” which led the weekend box office with $45 million. At 17 she is not yet a household name, but she laid some groundwork early: At age six she had a supporting role on the Disney Channel sitcom “Crash & Bernstein.” Later she received an Emmy nomination for her work in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and portrayed the younger selves for the leads in movies like “I, Tonya” and “Captain Marvel.”
Her “Ghostbusters” co-star is Finn Wolfhard, who made his debut at 13 in CW’s “Supernatural” before starring in “Stranger Things” and “It.” Zendaya, star of “Dune: Part Two,” got her start as a Disney Channel regular. Her co-star, Oscar-nominated Austin Butler, cut his teeth at Nickelodeon.
It’s a strange juxtaposition: Child actors are currently at the forefront of the uncomfortable but necessary conversation centered in Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz...

Kristen Stewart has been in the limelight since her pre-teen after gaining recognition as Jodie Foster’s on-screen daughter in Panic Room (2002). After working on the big screen for a while, she garnered global prominence for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight saga. Nowadays, it seems odd to remember a time when the acclaimed, Oscar-nominated Kristen Stewart wasn’t considered a great actor, or even a good one. But from 2008 to 2012, that was the prevailing opinion about the Los Angeles-born performer’s abilities — or, at the very least, the prevailing opinion about her on the internet.
A child actor who worked consistently since she was 12, when she portrayed Jodie Foster’s daughter in David Fincher thriller “Panic Room,” Stewart practically exploded into a global film star when she headlined 2008’s “Twilight,” based on the popular vampire teen romance novels by Stephenie Meyer. Opposite instant sex symbol Robert Pattinson, Stewart was the moody, shy, awkward Bella Swan, the type of female heroine whose specificity takes a backseat to general relatability, so the tween girls reading the books can imagine themselves in her shoes.

Have you ever seen a steamy s*x scene in a movie and thought, “That is not how it works in real life?” Well, it turns out you are not alone. Twilight fame actress Kristen Stewart recently came out against the way s*x is portrayed in movies.
Rose Glass’s latest romantic thriller, Love Lies Bleeding, stars Stewart, who recently told NBC News she is “so sick” of s*x scenes in films that are overly methodical and unrealistically staged. The new film, which has several intimate scenes that Stewart and her co-star Katy O’Brian shot, is being distributed by A24.
