Hi-Fear is the final instalment of the trilogy that started in 2013 with Hi-8 and was followed in 2018 by Hi-Death. These anthologies have been tributes to the glory days of shot-on-video horror and were made by many of the pioneers of that movement. Wyclef Jean was handcuffed and detained early Tuesday morning, after Los Angeles sheriffs mistook him for a robbery suspect.

The 47-year-old musician posted video of himself in handcuffs on Instagram, telling officers that he's a recording artist, and for someone to give them the address to the recording studio he was coming home from.

"Y'all see the police have handcuffs on me," he says in the video. "They just took off my Haitian bandanna. That's what's going on right now with Wyclef in L.A. right now. The Lapd have me in cuffs for absolutely nothing."

Now leading off CBS’ Monday slate, Kevin Can Wait this week drew 7.9 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating (per finals), about half of what Big Bang Theory last did in the time slot and down 7 and 24 percent from its most recent post-Bang numbers.

Leading out of that, the debut of Man With a Plan (7.4 mil/1.6) demonstrated solid retention. 2 Broke Girls (5.6 mil/1.4) and Scorpion (7 mil/1.2) each dipped a tenth, while Odd Couple (4.9 mil/1.1) was steady.

Continuing their year-long support for Dying Light in 2016, Techland have just expanded the game’s Dev Tools. Players now have the ability to use all-terrain buggies featured in Dying Light: The Following on custom maps, even if they only own the base game.

Personally, this is the nominated film that should have won the Best Foreign Language Film, because of its commonality and recognizable expression. After the audacious prologue, the titles are shown over animals in the wild, which in actuality we still are, and still inhabit. Argentine director Damián Szifrón is about to break out in a major way, internationally. His dark comedy-thriller Wild Tales, a collection of six revenge stories that he wrote and directed, reportedly received a ten-minute standing ovation when it premiered at Cannes.

ITV's Coronation Street special Gail & Me: 40 Years On was seen by 2.7m (12.9%) at 8pm (193,000/0.9% on +1). Road Rage Britain gathered 2.7m (12.5%) at 9pm (174k/1.1%).

On Channel 4, Breadline Kids intrigued 937k (4.6%) at 7.30pm (113k/0.5%). 24 Hours in A&E interested 1.5m (6.6%) at 9pm (358k/2.3%), followed by CCTV: Caught on Camera with 898k (5.9%) at 10pm (123k/1.5%).

Five new films open in Austin this week, but all have tepid reviews. But not to worry, film fans: For the rest of the year, terrific special screenings are piling up like presents stacked under a Christmas tree. (Or grievances aired around a Festivus pole, or whatever symbols are part of your holiday tradition, if indeed you have one, and it's fine if you don't. Whatever your holiday tradition -- or lack thereof -- the always-inclusive folks at Slackerwood wish you happiness. Or not, if you prefer unhappiness.)

There is, of course, the expected onslaught of holiday film screenings this week. The Alamo Drafthouse offers its usual eclectic mix of holiday movies, from the traditionally warm and fuzzy (It's a Wonderful Life) to the anti-sentimental (the slasher flick Black Christmas, with a live appearance by Margot Kidder) to Jette and Chip's favorite holiday tradition, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.

After a couple of days sleeping off my turkey coma, I found my way out to Spiderwood Studios for the third installment of the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow series: Road Rage Drive-In which in previous weeks showed The Legend of Billie Jean and Wild at Heart. The November 24 selection was one of my favorite disaster movies, Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton as well as future stars Zach Grenier, Jeremy Davies and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

This year Twister turned sweet 16, and I was eager to relive one of its most intense scenes, set in a drive-in theater, while watching it in an actual drive-in. Unfortunately, the weather did not want to cooperate, and there were to be no thunderstorms this weekend. I found the setting wasn't quite as I'd hoped as well, though it was still an entertaining evening.

[Update 1] Game Informer is reporting that Activision has not entirely shut down Radical Entertainment but does have it running at a “much smaller capacity” while they consider the studio’s future, including a possible sale of the business. Low sales of the Prototype IP are said to be the cause of the studio’s demise.

[Update 2] Activision has released the following statement concerning Radical Entertainment:

“Although we made a substantial investment in the Prototype IP, it did not find a broad commercial audience. Radical is a very talented team of developers, however, we have explored various options for the studio, including a potential sale of the business, and have made a difficult conclusion through the consultation process that the only remaining option is a significant reduction in staff.”

“As such, some employees will remain working for Radical Entertainment supporting other existing Activision Publishing projects, but the studio will cease development of its own games going forward.

2012 will be the first year that GeekTrant will invade WonderCon, mostly due to the fact that it was moved down to Anaheim, CA this year which is right in our backyard. We're all pretty excited about attending this year, as we've heard it's a much smaller more intimate version of San Diego Comic Con.

WonderCon is set to open on Friday, March 16th and run through Sunday, March 18th at the Anaheim Convention Center. If you plan on attending let us know, and maybe we can meet up and hang out for a bit!
