After my love letter to Noah Taylor I thought it might be kind of fun to write to some people for The Film Experience and ask Them who they'd want to write a love letter to. Hopefully this is making some kind of sense. So I made a little dream list of people I respect and admire beyond all reason and I sent them a little e-mail saying:
I've seen you do work that has made me want to write you a love letter because it's moved me so deeply. Who or what would you like to write a love letter to? What piece of art or artist or feeling has moved you in this way?"
Here are a few amazing responses I got from these talented and passionate individuals!
To the magnificent & unique Zachary Quinto "my love letter to you is mostly me obsessing about: Angels In America!

Questioning Greatness with Adam Rifkin:
Earth’S Premiere Storyteller
We (Bob Rose, me, I?) at the Opinion In A Haystack Department are proud to announce that I (we?) were (was?) given the chance to pick the brain bucket of Hollywood’s supreme philosopher and film-creationist, Sir Adam Rifkin (facebook, twitter, myspace.) He’s the filmmaker responsible for Detroit Rock City, The Chase, The Dark Backward, and, more recently, the award winning Look. I was able to sit down with Mr. Rifkin, in front of our respective computers, and interview him, via email, about a plethora of assorted, varied, diverse, sundry, indiscriminate, and heavily kaleidoscopic ideas.
I originally sent Mr. Rifkin over 3,000 questions, most of which involved very uncomfortable queries about his family lineage, sexual fears, and Laserdisc-replica collection. He answered all of them in full detail, thus passing the interview-qualification-process, which allowed me to send him the 16 questions you will find below.

Liz's Mobster Shopping Pal
Liz Hurley has found a new partner for her shopping trips in Beverly Hills - a former Mafia boss. Liz met Dominick Montemarano, also known as Donnie Shacks, on the set of Liz's boyfriend Steve Bing's latest movie, Night At The Golden Eagle. A spokesman for the model-turned-actress says, "Elizabeth has an actor friend called Donnie who has a part in the film. That is all we would like to say." Once the 'captain' of the New York crime family the Colombos, Montemarano was released from prison in 1996 after serving a sentence for racketeering and extortion. It is not know if Liz is aware of her new pal's history. The former mobster is still under a federal supervision order until 2003. An associate of Montemarano says, "Donnie just loves being around Liz. There is no question of it being a sexual affair, but they are certainly very good friends. He may seem an odd choice of friend, but he is definitely a better man to have on your side than against you."...

Liz's Man Hopes Vinnie Will Bring Movie Hit
Elizabeth Hurley's new beau, film producer Steve Bing is hoping that his next movie Night at the Golden Eagle (2001) will do better than the last - with Vinnie Jones's help. The producer's remake of Get Carter (1971), starring Sylvester Stallone, bombed at the American box office but now Bing is pinning his hopes on a smash hit with his latest project, starring Jones. Meanwhile Warner Bros. officials say they have no plans to release Get Carter (2000) in Britain. "It may well be that it ends up going straight to video, " says a spokesman for the company.
