As John Cena comes to terms with the heartbreak of missing out on the biggest WrestleMania of all time, spare a thought as well for The Undertaker.
The plan had been for the fifty year old phenom to feud with Cena, in what was very possibly going to be a retirement match at WrestleMania. The scene had been set throughout the last year, with Taker working an increased schedule and celebrating “25 years with WWE” at Survivor Series. It was all building towards Mania 32, which is taking place in his home state, and is scheduled to set WWE’s new attendance record. You can imagine what Taker was envisioning…. a home crowd, working the biggest star in the industry, on the biggest stage in WWE history. There’s no better way to go out than that scenario.
Not only would it have been a legacy moment, it would also have been a lucrative payday.

Last night, Roman Reigns successfully defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus in a live event from Winnipeg, Mb. Immediately after the bell, the referee threw up the dreaded X sign, perhaps signalling a legit injury for the Celtic Warrior.
As Reigns celebrated post-match, a limping Sheamus had to get help from WWE’s medical staff to walk to the backstage area.
With tonight’s Slammy Awards taking place on Raw from Minneapolis, Minnesota, it’ll be interesting to see if the former WWE Champion is able to appear. More information should become clear later today but with Sheamus seemingly being Reigns’ top opponent in live events for the next month, a decision on whether he is cleared to wrestle should be made shortly.

When Roman Reigns was crowned WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Survivor Series and it was only 10:35pm Eastern Time, we all knew shenanigans were imminent in some shape or form.
After Triple H came out to shake Roman’s hand and ate a spear for his troubles, there was a familiar Irishman waiting behind Reigns to hit a Brogue Kick, cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase and become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Initially, Reigns managed to kick out but after a second Brogue Kick, The Celtic Warrior had lifted the WWE World Heavyweight title for a fourth time.
Since the cash in, there has been an extremely negative reaction to Sheamus as not only the new top heel in the company but also the man who is now the odds on favourite to carry the WWE title into 2016.

Sheamus felt like a caged animal waiting in the wings to enact his Money in the Bank contract for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. After more than five months the “Celtic Warrior” finally cashed in and struck gold in the final minutes of Survivor Series. Roman Reigns had just won a tournament to crown a new title holder before the superstar ruined his victory party with a Brogue Kick to the face. This was the fourth time at the top of the WWE mountain for Sheamus, who was able to celebrate the occasion in the ring with … Continue reading →

The ever-changing landscape of pro wrestling means that fans learn something from virtually every single show. That was certainly the case on the latest edition of Survivor Series. WWE’s creative team had their hand forced by an unfortunate injury to Seth Rollins during the recent UK Tour. The scheduled Rollins vs. Roman Reigns match had to be cancelled, and a tournament was booked to culminate on the Pay-Per-View instead.
It seems that WWE’s original plan was mimicked even after the card had been restructured. There had been rumours that Roman Reigns was going to walk out of the show as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but the promotion decided to throw in a little curveball to try and make the end of 2015 interesting.
Going into the event, there were also questions over exactly what would happen during The Undertaker’s big appearance. The undoubted focal point of the show’s promotional materials,...

WWE’s 29th annual Survivor Series event was hyped as the 25th anniversary celebration of The Undertaker’s incredible in-ring career. Since debuting as the character in 1990, the man has done everything to ensure that he maintains relevancy, and he is the single most enduring on-screen performer in the company.
On its own, that kind of story and party would have been enough for the Pay-Per-View. Due to unforeseen circumstances however, WWE had another big tale to spin. A knee injury to Seth Rollins meant he had to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Title. At Survivor Series, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio and Dean Ambrose were the final men left in a tournament set to crown a new champ.
Elsewhere, Paige and Charlotte’s feud over the WWE Divas Title had turned ultra-personal on Monday Night Raw. Making comments about Charlotte’s deceased brother, Reid, the challenger courted real-life controversy.

In case you’ve missed any of WWE’s programming recently, this Sunday’s Survivor Series is the 25th anniversary of the debut of the Undertaker. The longest active member of the WWE roster, Taker has seen everything in the business and is generally regarded as one of the most respected professional wrestlers to have ever lived. A solid argument could be made for him being the greatest of all time.
Still, 25 years is a long time in any industry, especially professional wrestling. Undertaker has been involved in some of the most physical matches in history too, and his body deserves all the relaxation retirement will bring. He has accomplished everything there is to accomplish, so nobody can begrudge the Deadman time at home. He’s married to Michelle McCool as well, so come on.
Professional wrestling is full of lamentation though. One of the most enjoyable things...

This Sunday’s Survivor Series pay-per-view is stacked with star power (or at least as much star power as WWE can possibly provide at the moment). Not only will The Undertaker be celebrating 25 years in WWE, four fresh faces will be battling for the opportunity to become the new WWE World Heavyweight champion.
Not on the card, however, is John Cena, who is currently in the midst of a hiatus from WWE TV. He took time off following October’s Hell in a Cell event to heal up and film a new reality show and reportedly won’t be back until Christmastime (his next scheduled appearance is the December 26th house show in Msg).
Cena’s absence on programming has undoubtedly been felt by fans, but in the ten years he’s been on top, he’s been away from action on multiple occasions due to injury or other reasons.

This week’s Raw ratings heralded some good news for WWE.
The show’s overall viewership increased ever so slightly this week, with the November 16 broadcast drawing an average of 3.29 million viewers. This was an increase from last week’s show, which drew an average of 3.17 million viewers.
The overall trend of viewers leaving throughout the show continued, with the third hour of Raw coming in as the least viewed hour of the show. However, the third hour didn’t dip below 3 million viewers this week as it did on November 9.
The hourly breakdown of the show was:
First Hour: 3.541 million viewers (3.480 last week)
Second Hour: 3.290 million viewers (3.177 last week)
Third Hour: 3.047 million viewers (2.863 last week)
Among cable viewers 18-49 on Monday night, Raw was the third most watched show of the night, with Monday Night Football and Love And Hip Hop Hollywood performing better in that coveted demographic.

Survivor Series this year takes place on Sunday 22nd November – exactly 25 years to the day since the same pay-per-view in 1990 featured the WWF television debut of The Undertaker. Since then, the Phenom has become one of the most enduring stars in professional wrestling history, and certainly WWF/E’s longest running legend.
He’s the only one left on the roster who was working there when Monday Night Raw debuted in January 1993. He’s seen the last gasps of the territories and the tail end of the 1980s explosion of rock n’ wrestling; the beginning of the 1990s, with the cartoon elements of sports entertainment in the WWF being pushed to the fore; the Monday Night War and the Attitude Era; the rebranding to WWE; the Ruthless Aggression era; and the gradual transition to PG programming, the digital age, the WWE Network and the move away from a traditional pay-per-view model of business.

The Undertaker will be appearing on the UK show in Manchester this November 10, WWE have reported on their website.
This will be the Smackdown taping, meaning that he’ll likely be there shooting an angle for his feud with Bray Wyatt, with a match expected to take place at Survivor Series.
There’s no news if he’ll be on the Raw taping the night before, but there has to be a good chance. As for the smaller house shows, it is doubtful if he’d come in early for those events. Most likely this is just a move to shift unsold tickets for the televised Smackdown show. He did work recent Mexico house shows, but it would be asking a lot of him to appear on the much longer European tour.

John Cena’s WWE return could be earlier than expected. There’s speculation at f4wonline that plans could have him returning on the December 13th TLC special. This would be in Cena’s home state, Massachusetts, so on paper it does sound like the ideal place for him to make his comeback.
The idea right now is that he’d face Alberto Del Rio in a rematch for the United States Championship.
Originally, Cena’s first date back was meant to be the December 26 house show at Madison Square Garden. That’s his next advertised date, in a match with Sheamus. Interestingly, he’s meant to be defending the Us Title against the Irishman. Does that mean he’s going to beat Del Rio and win the belt back? Only time will tell, but don’t read too much into it. WWE change their mind often.

WWE Raw will be taking place in San Diego, California tonight. There’s a ton of buzz going into the show, with several backstage rumours coming out of Hell In A Cell.
The Hell In A Cell show itself, was a very positive night for the WWE. On the whole, it wasn’t a complete classic, but almost everything was just fine. Rising above the rest of the card were the Cell matches, which delivered strongly. There were also big moments like Alberto Del returning and The Undertaker being “abducted” by the Wyatt family.
All in all, last night’s drama should mean an extra intriguing Raw broadcast. WWE will be expecting improved ratings, as fans tune in to see where WWE go from Hell In A Cell.
There are several rumours as to what the directions could be, with Survivor Series just a month away. In addition...

The Undertaker is in good physical shape and is open to working more dates this year, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports.
It would probably only be rare dates, but one area that could need him is November’s european tour. The Observer references how the tour is lacking depth.
The reason Taker is in such fine shape, is because he’s fully healed from previous injuries and surgeries. He is due to work October’s Mexico tour and could work similar shows before WrestleMania.
However, one thing that is a no-go, is The Undertaker versus Sting match. There’s been zero talk in that direction. That’s a shame, as it is a dream match, but the time to do it was at Mania 31. It looks like the ship has sailed now, especially after Sting’s poor performance and injury at September’s Night Of Champions.

With John Cena leaving WWE for nearly two months after Hell In A Cell, speculation is mounting on how WWE will fill the gap. One theory is that they’ll look to get The Undertaker to work yet another date in 2015. This would involve the deadman main eventing Survivor Series 2015 on November 22nd.
There may already be a clue to that happening, as a WWE.com feature in the summer highlighted that Survivor Series 2015 is the 25th anniversary since The Undertaker’s WWE debut.
It would be fitting if he worked the event, marking his quarter of a century in the business.
But his real importance in potentially working November would be filling in for John Cena. As the franchise star of the company, Cena is responsible for pulling in so much of the Raw viewership and WWE Network subscriptions. It isn’t easy to just substitute a star attraction of that magnitude,...

The Undertaker has made a rare public appearance with his wife. He was pictured with Michelle McCool at the CC4C 4th Annual Micro Marathon 4 Inspiration in Bee Cave, Texas. It is a 2.62 mile family fun run, which raises funds for sick children. WWE superstar Mark Henry was also taking part.
Taker appearing in public with Michelle is something that they both try to kayfabe a little, and she’ll often only post obscure and teasing comments / pictures on her own instagram. But the above photo came from the charity instagram, which treated the scene like any normal family fun run. It wasn’t like Taker had any big celebrity status at the event, he was there as Mark Calaway.
He’s currently in the best shape he’s been in a long time, and is set to wrestle his third match of 2015 at October’s Hell In A Cell.
