It is the story of two naughty kids who are orphaned in an accident and are forced to live with their new guardian, the strict disciplinarian and army man - their grandfather. They have never seen him before due to differences between their parents and the grandpa. They get to have a first hand experience of the reason for these differences.
While the plot is sad and very sympathy evoking, the movie itself is very light hearted to a large extent, and is a continuous laugh riot. The children's performances are especially noteworthy.
How the gandpa and the children eventually warm up to each other, and the various troubles that the cook and other family members go through trying to raise the children make for a very interesting and fun viewing.
The soundtrack of the movie is decent and more in the funny, talking mode unlike the norm.

Though the entire plot of the movie is a little sympathetic and tragic, movie is mostly set in a light hearted mood.
Terrific cast. Heart touching and moving. All the actors especially the kids did a wonderful job which takes the movie to another level.
Makes me cry every time i watch this movie. Such an innocent and engaging movie.

It was like a dream movie in my childhood. We didn't have the luxury of watching our favorite movies during my school days around 1996-2000. We could only watch whatever was available on TV, often at friends' homes who had cable connections with channels like ETV and Gemini. We could only watch this movie if it aired on any channel. Whenever this movie aired, those times felt dreamlike.
Gunnam Gangaraju is an amazing director, on par with our generation's Tier-1 directors like SSR. Every dialogue in this movie is spot on. The acting of the children, not to mention Kota Sir and Brahmi, is next level. Yesterday, when we watched this movie again, my wife cried almost 4-5 times. I hope the makers of this movie release a 4K version so I can re-watch it again and again, even after 30 years. I am sure no movie like this will ever come out of TFI.
Finally, I want to thank Gunnam Gangaraju Sir for making my childhood memorable with movies like this.

This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. The story is heartwarming, the music is soulful and the actors are iconic.
I watched it again in 2023, and it made me realize what films are about - making people feel emotions, see other people's lives, feel grateful for what we have that other characters don't.
It's disheartening that movies like this are hardly being made now. I hope the producers come up with a 4k version and release it on Netflix or Prime, because several 90's kids hold this film close to their heart and would love to show it to their children and keep it alive.
This is a beautiful movie, and it's our responsibility to cherish and pass onto next generations.
