Chris Rock was offered the part of Dr. S but turned it down. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rock said "It's the worst script I've ever gotten... I'd have been happier getting an envelope full of anthrax."
Lisa Kudrow expressed in 2008 that the best part about doing the film was getting to work and talk with Damon Wayans, whom she said is a really smart person. He was helpful and supportive, as she was working 17 hours a day on the film while helping her young son adjust to their recent move to New York.
Christine Baranski was asked in 2014 which films she gets recognized for, and she said she never knows what people are going to say when they come up to her. She told a story about how a guy at a hotel surprised her and said "Marci X (2003)" and she later learned he had a small part in it, which launched his acting career.
During a 2011 talk show interview with Jay Leno, he played a clip of Matthew Morrison from the film to Morrison's response was "It was the gayest thing I've ever done in my life, literally. I was in a gay boy band in the movie called Boys R Us."
