First of all, people need to know that B.N.Reddy is one of the greatest directors in the country....ever. i don't know how the academy awards have cast an blind eye on his films. they are simply fabulous. This particular film is the readaptation of hamlet. But indianized. Things like the queen marrying the king's murderer are removed. you must understand that such things are simple undigestable to the Indian viewer. So here the queen and the prince form a team. The politics inside the fortress and the tensions between the lead characters are superbly told. Rama rao is superb as the prince. 'raja makutam' means the king's sceptre. Gummadi is terrific in a memorable role as the villain. And the movie does not end in a tragedy. Easily one of the best telugu films.
