Sadly, an astounding number of allegedly grown-up people in this world are walking around under the impression that the Beatles were just an over-rated rock band that had a bunch of hits and made some girls scream.
These people need to be strapped to a chair and forced to watch this outstanding TV special. Maybe if it's force-fed to them, they might obtain a clue as to the part these four incredible men played in so many areas of our present-day life -- everything from music itself, inter-generational attitudes, fashion, language and hairstyles to music videos, live concerts, graphic design, the music industry and even the fall of communism in the Soviet Union!
This special, more than any other one I've seen, touched on so much of all of that. It should be repeated by the network at least once a year . . . if only to remind people of today from where they have come.

Of course we all know how many people (quantity) the Fab Four have influenced BUT what about the quality, from all walks of life, and those they have touched. ABC has done a great job in assembling the cast of characters to make this a very enjoyable documentary. Nice job!

This was great! I've always known the Beatles but I've never truly been a big fan until now. When I watched this documentary, I was so happy. The Beatles Revolution told me (almost) the whole story of the fab four from the beginning to the end. I can't say that I have a favorite Beatle either because they're all my favorites. They're all cute and my movie collection of their works is slowly but surely growing. This comment probably made little to no sense but I don't care because I'm on Christmas break! See you in the new year (or whatever...)
why can't there be more documentaries out there about the frenzies and manias that other bands caused? Or perhaps, like many other musical revolutions, The Beatles are the first to do so. This wasn't a documentary on the history of how they formed and what lead to their break-up. Instead it avoids the band members personal stories and bios and just concentrates on the effect their popularity had on the world, as a group. I've seen and read many Beatles documentaries; there are few things in each one that are included in every one: how Paul saw John's first band at a church fair, the death of Stu Sutcliffe, the firing of Pete Best, their first US appearance on Ed Sullivan, their Shea Stadium concert, John's comments on Jesus Christ's popularity, their psychadelic transfer, the attention on Yoko and Linda, their farewell London roof-top performance, and others. But none is complete without the story surrounding John's death, and that's always the part that everyone hates getting to.
But enough about that. What this special does is show how most of today's culture was influenced by the Beatles, not to mention practically the careers of every single interviewee on here. It shows how they influenced music, movies, fashion, slang, youth attitudes, music videos, how concerts were held, how to give an interview, how to take photographs, etc.; there's too much to remember.
I would like to see "The Beatles Anthology", because I haven't actually seen an "official" biography of the Fab Four.
NOTE: Many people don't know this, but Mark David Chapman, the assassin who killed John Lennon, attempted to committ suicide by drowning himself in a lake 3 years before he did what he did. Somebody fished him out, got him to a hospital, and they were able to resesitate him. Ironic isn't it?

This wasn't about the Beatles, it was about what people who later became famous thought about the Beatles. Why should we care what Tim Allen or Oscar de la Hoya think about their music? I can understand talking to people who were there and who were part of the "scene", but there was too much blah blah blah from people who didn't have anything to do with the Beatles.
It seems that ever since the Beatles Anthology came out 7 years ago in 1995 (was it really that long ago?!?) it seems almost customary for there to be a new Beatles special every few years.
I've been a huge Beatles fan for a long time and have to say that this special did a great job introducing the guys to people who knew nothing about them. Of course if you need to complain about anything it would be that they skipped over some things (ie. John's first wife, Brian Epstein's death etc) but you can't have everything in 2 hours with commercials. If you're interested in learning more that's what the Anthology is for. Overall, a good special and an interesting look at how the guys affected so many celebrities of today. (Mike Myers' stories were my favorite!) If anyone has this on tape that you know, check it out whether your an old or new fan of the Beatles.
