One day when the representative of the sultan of Kedah, Datuk Seri Kemajaya was discussing the management of the island of Langkawi at the front desk. Among those present included Mahsuri, daughter of Datur Amar, who was in the traditional hall with other palace girls. At the same time, three officers who had just returned from a battle with the Portuguese forces in the strait of Malacca entered to confront. The three of them are Kelana, Deramang son of Datuk Kemajaya, and Lela. The three of them were captivated by the beauty of Mahsuri's face and tried to charm Mahsuri by telling about the success they had achieved, as well as showing the loot they found in the battle. None of them had seen Mahsuri before. Datuk Seri Kemajaya was pleased with their success and considering their many services in the past offered them wives so that they could get married. All three of them refused, stating that they were not ready to start a family because the three of them had fallen in love with Mahsuri.
