The positions of some of the characters during the game's opening cutscene change in between shots.
On the intro background for Peach's Birthday Cake, the fondant of Peach is placed in front of the cake while all the fondants of the other five playable characters are mounted on it. On the actual board, she is on a plate surrounded by jelly beans.
If a team of 3 players in a 1-vs-3 Mini-Game or either team of 2 players in a 2-vs-2 Mini-Game win, the text announcement uses the singular "wins" instead of the plural "win" or past tense "won". For instance, "Mario, Peach Wins", "Luigi, Peach, Yoshi Wins", etc. Later "Mario Party" games remedied this.
Coin Block Bash is listed as a 1-vs-3 Mini-Game where the sole player who landed on a Red Space and vice-versa carries the hammer at the start, but can lose it upon being attacked by other players which any player can pick up the dropped hammer. It should be a 4-Player Mini-Game where the hammer is randomly given to any of the players from the start; as there are a few other Mini-Games that are 4-Player games where one object is randomly given to any player: Key-Pa Way, Running of the Bulb, etc.
In the Mini-Games "Running of the Bulb" and "Desert Dash", the announcer's start-to-finish calls are "Ready, Go! - Finish" and "Start - Goal" respectively; when it should always be "Start - Finish" and "Ready, Go! - Goal".
The engine in the board map Luigi's Engine Room is rendered as powerless until at the end of the adventure when after a player is declared the title of "Superstar" and that the Power Stars then power up the engine. When the scene changes to show outside of the board map that it takes place inside a cruiser, the cruiser is shown floating high in the sky. It should be on land if powerless.
Some Mini-Games have the characters' jump SFX reversed by character order. For instance, in "Piranha's Pursuit" as the player escaping from the growing pursing Piranha Plant and when the character jumps for the first time in "Ghost Guess" during the intro before starting: Peach has Luigi's low-pitched "Woop" jump, Yoshi has Peach's "Boing" jump, etc.
Boo, whose purpose is for stealing coins and stars (the latter for 50 coins) from any other player does not appear on the board map Peach's Birthday Cake, but can be randomly summoned via an Event Block.
On Yoshi's Tropical Island, after the Bowser Tube mysteriously breaks on the character, Bowser will question if any of them have gained weight. Characters Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi are slimmer than what he questions any of them.
The board map Peach's Birthday Cake that is her namesake board, after any player purchases a star from Toad for 20 coins, he comments that she (under the past alias of "Princess Toadstool" she was referred to outside of Japan before Super Mario 64) made it, yet she can participate on the board out of all the six playable characters whom all have namesake board maps, so this hardly makes sense.
The Mini-Game "Mario Bandstand", despite the name can be played, even if Mario is not in play since only four out of six playable characters can participate in board maps and Mini-Games.
