          top notch dancing and singing

At first blush this stage production comes across as a powerful and dynamic performance that provides non-stop, mesmerizing performances from the lead singers. There is a continued blend of modern and ancient rhythms that keep your attention focused on the entire cast in constant interaction with the auditorium audience that is rarely captured anywhere else. At times you even feel a part of the audience and enjoy the thrilling drama as it unfolds in front of you.

Repeated viewings only serve to enhance the pleasure received. It's a shame that this has yet to be released on DVD to allow the full effect of the music and acting to be delivered in modern technology.

          Top notch singing and dancing

From the moment this show opens until the final curtain the South African cast presents an exciting array of performers, costumes and songs that can be watched time and again. Originally broadcast on PBS the numbers loose none of their attraction after many viewings. Filmed during a live performance the interaction between the audience and performers is well done.

Name of the tall African female singer

Ipi ntombi is simply an out of this world experience. Its music and rhythms are pulsating from start to finish. It is such a shame that this musical was run out of town (New York City) in the early 70's apparently because it was politically incorrect. If ever there was a non-political plot to a play, this was it. I wish somebody made a DVD out of it.

I am desperate to find out the name of the tall (6 foot plus) African female singer with that spectacular baritone voice. I am in Cape Town at present and no one here can help me with that info. I would love to buy some of her records.
