The movie's story has resemblance to Mrinal Sen's film Matira Manisha. The shooting of the film Devaasuram was nearby, wherein Cochin Haneefa and Janardhanan played roles in the film. Geetha had to reject the lead female role in the film Akashadoothu for completing this film.
