Representative Radio

Gavin Muir (Joseph Goddard) plays the anti-establishment DJ wonderfully. He manages to draw you into the story expertly really feeling for what happens to Dr. Brian Fisher (Tom Marshall). The use of a television reporter outside the station - reporting on the drama inside - gets a lot of information over in a very short space of time. I couldn't help but feel exhausted watching this film. From the moment you see Goddard get up out of bed, the Camera zooms through his bedside clock to revel the town, to him leaving the radio station the next morning, walking up a high street at dawn with an Ambulance speeding by (Was this for the Brian??), you can't help but feeling the film is a lot longer than 11 minutes. This isn't a case of you getting board - just that so much happens!

Richard Janes (Director, Producer, Writer) has shown he is more than capable of telling a motion picture story in a commercial and entertaining way. If he makes more shorts perhaps he should choose a smaller subject that fits better within the short genre. However, I do get the feeling it is features that this Director is more suited to. A medium where he really can deal with these large deep and moving story lines.
