The werewolf seen in the horror movie opening is a recycled version of the character model for Noble's werewolf from Beast Machines: Transformers (1999).
This is the first CGI-animated movie for the "Casper, the Friendly Ghost" franchise. As well as Universal Studios Home Video's first-ever CGI-animated release.
In 1999, despite Harvey Entertainment selling the characters' rights to different studios, Amblin Entertainment were still allowed to have the rights to make sequel to Casper (1995), with or without the leading actors. And a script was written by Simon Wells. But in 2000, after the critical backlash and underwhelming video sales on Casper: A Spirited Beginning (1997), Casper Meets Wendy (1998), and later Casper's Haunted Christmas (2000), the studio was convinced to cancel plans for a "Casper 2". But in 2022, it was announced by Universal that a reboot series for Peacock was in development.
