Rémi Gagneur's drunken brother-in-law announced that Rémi was the only one without blue eyes. In a rage, Rémi committed a serious act, which led to his arrest and imprisonment. Five months later, a boarder in a rehabilitation center, convinced that he is a bastard, he tries to forget the memory of his "false father". Despite the efforts of his educator, he stubbornly refuses to meet his mother, who he believes has lied to him.

Rémi Gagneur visits his uncle Loys and cleverly asks him about his father's friends, and in particular about a certain Martial, whose photo he saw at Marc's place. He learns that Martial's real name is Edouard Emmery, and that he is an engineer at the Dunkirk shipyards.
