The series received an unofficial reboot in the form of "Tekkaman Blade" (1992-1993). It revisits the concept of the space knights, but depicts them as an organized group instead of a singular prototype.
The character designs of the series were provided by Yoshitaka Amano, who went on to become the main designer for the first few games in the role-playing video game series "Final Fantasy".
The series was intended to run for 52 episodes, but was canceled after the broadcast of 26 episodes. A decade later, it became popular in the home video market.
