This game is favorite for the Atari 2600, it's one of my favorites from Activision, but also my favorite paddle game for system as this system had a lot of paddle games.
Really like the concept as it's a paddle game but in the reverse, where instead of hitting the ball up, here your trying to catch a multitude of balls or should I say bombs. The goal is simple as it's about stopping the bombers bombs from dropping to the ground. That's it in a nutshell. You have three paddles one in front, middle and back which is very helpful as they may be some that stop past you.
At first it starts out simple where the bomber drops bomb in a pattern that is easy to detect. But as you get further the pattern not just gets faster but a little more complicated. The key isn't so much to move really fast to get to each bomb on time but really on eye coordination and a bit of quick memorization, you see where the first bomb drops and to start catching them from there.
But if you miss one of the bombs, the bomb blows and you lose a paddle which gives the game a difficulty because it means you've lost your defense in that area and if a bomb gets past you in that area then you pretty much screwed. Really like not just the bomb effect but just seeing that bombers sinister smile on his face, his way of saying gotcha. Almost makes you a little mad motivating you to wipe that smile off the bomber's face on the next round or turn.
What makes the game cool is that it causes you to make some really swift and complicated set of moves to catch the bombs which make this game all the more interesting because you just surprise yourself finding out the set of moves you've just made.
This vintage classic is a blast.
