So, I really didn't want to watch this. I work at a video store so I get to watch everything before everybody else. Usually that's a good thing. Cinderella 2 is just one pointless movie. One little plot point after another that simply joins characters back together again. Don't ruin the first by watching this one. Walt had the idea. No sequels. Too bad he's still not around to enforce that idea.
Cinderella 2 isn't terrible, it just isn't great either. There were some parts I enjoyed like the last story with Anastasia or the Prince finally having more of a role. I love the new voices and the music was great. But otherwise this movie is pretty dull compared to other sequels. The third movie is the best and does it's story wonderfully.

Although released over half a century after Disney's version of "Cinderella", this is a sequel to the popular animated feature from 1950. I don't recall ever watching that particular Disney cartoon from start to finish until just a few months ago, even though I do remember seeing some of it as a kid. I didn't find that film to be the masterpiece many people consider it to be, but thought it was pretty good. I know I've pointed this out before with other films of this kind, but since this is yet another direct-to-video sequel from Disney (some of these are sequels to recent films from the company, while others are sequels to ones produced by Walt Disney himself decades earlier, and this is one of the latter), its mediocrity is not surprising.
The Fairy Godmother helps the mice make a new book about Cinderella, featuring three stories taking place after the events of the first one. The first of these stories is "Aim to Please", in which Cinderella and Prince Charming return from their honeymoon. The prince is then forced to leave with his father, and while they are away, a woman named Prudence is left to teach Cinderella how to be a princess and put her in charge of an upcoming banquet, but the new princess does not like what she learns. In the second story, "Tall Tail", Jaq the mouse feels he can't be of any help to Cinderella due to his small size and decides he would rather be a human, but this may not work out as he expected. Finally, in "An Uncommon Romance", Cinderella's stepsister, Anastasia, falls in love with a baker, but he is a commoner, so her mother and sister Drizella do not approve. Cinderella begins to help her stepsister try to win this baker's heart, but the two of them don't exactly see eye to eye on how to do this.
One thing these direct-to-video Disney sequels are good at is having inferior comic relief to their theatrical predecessors, and "Cinderella II: Dreams Come True" is no exception. I didn't even care much for the mice in the original movie, but still found some laugh-out-loud moments. However, I found none of those in this MUCH later sequel. In fact, I hardly even smiled while watching this one. The three stories are not among the most boring I've ever seen in a movie, but they're usually not too interesting. I'm sure they are entertaining to many kids, but are perhaps a little too simple to really have much entertainment value for adult viewers. If each of these segments featured lots of good humour in them to make viewers laugh, it could have made a major difference, but that's unfortunately nowhere near the case. The four songs sung by Brooke Allison don't help with the entertainment value, either. Some good traditional animation is featured here, with some nice, colourful backgrounds, but this is certainly not enough to make up for the significant problems this sequel suffers from.
Having previously seen "Belle's Magical World", the second direct-to-video release featuring the characters from Disney's hit 1991 adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast", this "Cinderella" sequel naturally reminded me of that film. Both feature three different short stories (the DVD version of the former features four, but I've only seen the VHS version and don't intend to watch that third installment in the "Beauty and the Beast" trilogy again in ANY format), all of which have life lessons in them. Since I watched "Cinderella II: Dreams Come True" about three years after seeing Disney's third "Beauty and the Beast" release, comparing them may not be as easy, but at least I can say this "Cinderella" film has better animation, and I didn't find the stories to be QUITE as dull as the ones in the other mentioned direct-to-video release, so I guess this one is slightly superior. However, that's not saying much.

I don't mind the sequels for the modern films, (example: The Lion King) but the Disney-Disney movies, the ones that were directed and produced by Walt himself (example: Fantasia)should be left alone. all these sequels! Roy Disney must be running out of ideas.

Of course, the original is better, but this isn't as bad as everyone says! Yes, it is made up into 3 stories, but hey, so what?! I thought it was quite good to be honest. I actually liked how Anastasia changed a little when she fell in love, it shows what love can do. The stories were not so bad either.
I liked Cinderella's voice better in this too. I have nothing against her voice in the original, but I just think it sounds better here, more nicer. I liked her personality in this too, she had more of a backbone, yet she was still kind.
So, I'll give Cinderella II:Dreams Come True a 7/10.

I've always thought that Cinderella II was the worst movie I've ever seen, (followed by Peter Pan 2, and some other sequels like The Lion King 2 and the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2). All these movies are made with the same idea; because the movie has no plot, they try to make up for that by filling it with jokes. I'm not saying the jokes are bad, but they make up most of the movie. The first time I saw the movie, I would have given it a 1/10. But now I think about it, most kids don't care how good the original movie was, they just care that the movie is entertaining. I still think the movie was a bad sequel, but that doesn't mean it's horrible. Now I think it deserves a 3/10.

The sequel to the ever popular Cinderella story reminded me somewhat of what they did with one of the Beauty & the Beast movies. It's basically three short stories rolled into 1.
OK, the mice are adorable (I love Gus! He's sooo cute!), and Lucifer's awesome (as usual). I liked some of the newer characters as well, (Pom Pom was adorable and I did like Prudence.). Still, the storyline was somewhat limited, but still very cute. So, I vote 7/10.

The original is a relaxing watch, with some truly memorable animated sequences. Unfortunately, the sequel, while not the worst of the DTV sequels completely lacks the sparkle.
The biggest letdown is a lack of a story. Like Belle's Magical World, the characters are told through a series of vignettes. Magical World, while marginally better, still manages to make a mess of the story. In between the vignettes, we see the mice at work, and I personally think the antics of Jaq and Gus are the redeeming merits of this movie.
The first vignette is the best, about Cinderella getting used to being to being a princess. This is the best, because the mice were at their funniest here. The worst of the vignettes, when Jaq turns into a human, is cute at times, but has a lack of imagination. The last vignette, when Anastasia falls in love, was also cute. The problem was, I couldn't imagine Anastasia being friendly with Cinderella, as I considered her the meaner out of the stepsisters. This was also marred by a rather ridiculous subplot about Lucifer falling in love with PomPom.
The incidental music was very pleasant to listen to;however I hated the songs, they were really uninspired, and nothing like the beautiful Tchaikovsky inspired melodies of the original.
The characters were the strongest development here. Cinderella while still caring, had lost her sincerity, and a lot of her charm from the original, though she does wear some very pretty clothes. The Duke had some truly funny moments but they weren't enough to save the film, likewise with Prudence and the king. As I mentioned, the mice were the redeeming merits of the movie, as they alone contributed to the film's cuteness. I have to say also the animation is colourful and above average, and the voice acting was surprisingly good.
All in all, a cute, if unoriginal sequel, that was marred by the songs and a lack of a story. 4/10 for the mice, the voice acting, the animation and some pretty dresses. Bethany Cox

I was shocked and surprised by the negative reviews I saw on the web. I thought Cinderella II (as well as III) was a very cute and funny sequel for everyone to enjoy, including kids and adults like me; I am 22 years old.
I also found it a very informative film; it shows lessons on being true to yourself and following your heart. I thought it had great animation. Additionally, I felt Brooke Allison's singing was excellent, and the voice casting was excellent. Since this film has been divided into three flashbacks or stories, my favorite out of the three is the story of when Jaq the mouse became a human for a day, thanks to the Fairy Godmother and her magic.

It's much better than the original movie. I mean come on, why does it have such a low rating here?
In the first movie Cinderella was dull as a dishrag and had no personality and simply fell in love literally overnight, had her happy ending and that's it.
At least in this one she has personality, dialogue, choices, she isn't just a silly singing poor girl. Oh and Anastasia's side story was cute, can't deny.
It's just more fun and all the characters show some development and personality.

If you are under the age of 6 or 7, then you're going to really enjoy this movie. My youngest daughter is glued to the TV when she watches it. As an adult, I can't stand it!! I'm all up for sequels....when they have a decent storyline. But this is nowhere near up to standard. Please forgive me for slating what is after all a kid's film, but when you have to sit through it nearly every day when your kids who love it so much, you'll understand why. My daughter would watch this film over and over again on the same day if we let her.
I've given this film 4 out of 10 purely for the fact that it keeps my youngest entertained.

I'll just put it out here, that was the Worst sequel to a classic Disney film I've EVER seen. In 1950, Disney released what I hail as one of his greatest films of all time. Now Take away the great songs, add a poor plot that resembles that of a lost TV show. "Put it together and what do you get?" the biggest load of Crud I've ever seen. After i saw this, I thought it was all over for Disney. Cinderella should've ended with, "and they lived happily ever after." not this garbage. This film did not deserve a sequel like this. I thought it would be like "A twist in time" which was moderate but better than this. Also, What do we care of Anastasia? She switched sides like Iago did, but it didn't help anyone.

I knew I'd have to deal with the direct to video Disney sequels this month, but honestly they're probably no worse than most of the other direct to video movies here. This movie is divided into three parts and that probably makes it all the more pointless. The first part is probably the worst as it just has Cinderella adjust to life as a princess. It's boring and serves no purpose. Most of these stories make no sense at all. In the second one, Jaq is turned into a human. Jaq even flat out requests that the story not be told because of how boring it is. Even he hates this movie! He has to stop an elephant, so he's turned back into a mouse because elephants are afraid of mice.
Uh...if elephants are afraid of mice, wouldn't that just make the elephant more agitated? In the final part, Cinderella tries to get Anastasia a boyfriend. There's this one scene where she thinks her boyfriend has found someone else and she leaves. Why is this confusion never brought up again? Also, the mice make two cats fall in love. The female cat gets covered in water which makes her reject the other cat for absolutely no reason. I do like the idea of Cinderella helping her stepsisters. The Cinderella films, whether they be animated or live-action have given us great entertainment and this is the worst of their kind. *1/2

Many people have commented that this movie was nowhere near as good as the first. Well, maybe it isn't - to you. However, how does your child react to it? Well, mine loved it more than the first.
Disney movies of the past can sometimes be a little harsh for little kids. (For example - Bambi's mother getting shot.) This movie was really great for my sensitive little girl who likes humor and happy endings.
If you want to be snobby about what should be Disney's standards based on the past - skip this movie.
If you have a sweet little girl or soft-hearted little boy you really want to please, buy this movie and treat your small children. This film is great as a bedtime movie for happy dreams instead of nightmares. I'm happy with a movie that pleases my kid & doesn't need to impress the parents all the time.

Absolutely pointless.
I'm always up for follow-ups as I enjoy seeing characters get further development. That, however, doesn't happen here. This is annoyingly broken up into three short stories, which are just barely cobbled together by the Fairy Godmother (Russi Taylor) and the mice. It's as if they decided to make a sequel before coming up with a premise for it.
Of the storylines they show-off, only one is directly about Cinderella herself - and it's an entirely unnecessary and predictable one. The others, regarding two characters from the preceding production, are simply dull. As are the voice cast, with Jennifer Hale in the leading role.
The animation is fine if a little cheap on the eye, while the music is forgettable. Not much humour, either. 'Cinderella II: Dreams Come True' is sequelitis in a nutshell.
