On her 72nd birthday on October 2, yesteryears' boxoffice queen Asha Parekh was surprised by her contemporary, the very beautiful Saira Banu, by an impromptu visit. The two chatted about old times and had dinner together. Says Asha, "It was a very pleasant surprise. And least expected. Saira just decided to drop home to wish me.And we sat and chatted for quite a while." Interestingly, Saira is not known to socialize these days, choosing instead to stay home to look after her husband the legendary Dilip Kumar. Says Asha, "It was a very pleasant surprise considering Saira hardly ever leaves Yusuf Saab alone. We are contemporaries. But we were never rivals. We meet very warmly even today. Mumbai, May 7: Being the grandson of Indian cinema pioneer Sashadar Mukherjee and the son of actor Deb Mukherjee was not like being a Kapoor, says director Ayan Mukerji who doesn't have any "glamorous" childhood memories and instead grew up "longing" to have access to the movers and shakers in the industry.
"I don't have glamorous memories of being a film industry child. While I come from a family deeply rooted in the film industry and my grandfather was a very big figure, in my father's generation, with the exception of my uncle Joy Mukherjee (of 'Shagird' fame), they were not that successful. It wasn't like being Rishi Kapoor's.

One of Joy Mukherjee.s leading ladies, Asha Parekh, remembers him as a fun loving person and says shooting with him was like a picnic. Saira Banu described him as a buddy who didn.t take care of his health.Asha and Joy did four films together - Hum Hindustani, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ziddi and Love In Tokyo..All of them were super hits. I am happy to say it was a joy working in these films. He was a hassle-free, fun-loving co-star, kind and considerate. But he also had a habit of coming late on the sets, which I soon got used to,. said Asha..When we did Hum Hindustani together in 1960, he was a newcomer and I already had done films. We didn.t have any scenes together in Hum Hindustani, so we barely met. When we did Phir Wohi Di Laya Hoon, it was a different story.
