Mumbai, May 7: Being the grandson of Indian cinema pioneer Sashadar Mukherjee and the son of actor Deb Mukherjee was not like being a Kapoor, says director Ayan Mukerji who doesn't have any "glamorous" childhood memories and instead grew up "longing" to have access to the movers and shakers in the industry.

"I don't have glamorous memories of being a film industry child. While I come from a family deeply rooted in the film industry and my grandfather was a very big figure, in my father's generation, with the exception of my uncle Joy Mukherjee (of 'Shagird' fame), they were not that successful. It wasn't like being Rishi Kapoor's.

As decided earlier, a stretch of Andheri's Yaari Road has now been named after the late actor Joy Mukherjee, on the occasion of his 74th birth anniversary. The legendary actor Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu inaugurated the said stretch. Saira Banu even recalled her association with Mukherjee on the occasion, with whom she had worked in films like Shagird, Saaz Aur Awaaz, Aao Pyaar Karein etc. Joy Mukherjee passed away last year due to prolonged illness.

Mumbai, Feb 25: Saira Banu remembered her "Shagird" co-star Joy Mukherji as a friendly and a wonderful human being while inaugurating a lane named after the late actor on his 74th birth anniversary.

"This has been done very beautifully. I never thought that me and Yusuf saab (Bollywood thespian Dilip Kumar) will ever come for such an occasion. It feels like Joy is still between us," said the 68-year-old here Sunday. She was accompanied by Dilip Kumar.

"I hope he would have been here today. He was very friendly and a wonderful human being," she added.

"It saddened me to see Joy when I last met him at our dinner here at home last December. He was unable to walk without help as his weight had increased. The neglect and indifference towards the physical fitness his father had insisted on began after S.
