The Invasion Angle sucked. Not only did they not get the WCW top stars but what we got was 4-5 months of 50-50 booking and WCW stars, like Booker T, get humiliated. The McMahons were also sickeningly over the product, making nearly every match end with an overbooked ending. The post WM 17 product became an annoying McMahon soap opera and the fans didn't like it one bit hence the sharp ratings decline at this point.
This PPV opens with a really really good opening hype video with the song "The End".
Christian v Al Snow (European title):
Not horrible but nobody cared about Al Snow. Slow paced. No energy. No intensity and screamed of filler. Skippable.
William Regal v Tajiri:
I'm fairly sure that this was the debut of Regal's darker/serious theme. Tajiri is just so fun to watch and hearing his kicks connect and the crowd awwing. Regal got a bloody nose very early on. Short match and probably not a classic but crowd into it and Regal looked good.
Test v Edge (IC and US title unification):
Edge and Christian haven't impressed me this year at all. Edge is obviously technically a very good wrestler and with work ethic but there is something about his matches which just put me to sleep and its the same with this match, too. I think Edge just lacks that bit of interplay transitions that guys like Daniel Bryan had/have. The crowd seemed a bit bored until the final 1/4th where it picks up. Best match so far.
Dudleys v Hardys cage match (WCW/WWF tag tile unification):
This has been a great year for the Hardys, especially Jeff who stole the show at Invasion and salvaged what would have been a dreadful PPV. The Dudleys have done well for a tag team but seemed typecast as one dimensional heels and would struggle as singles competitors.
Strangely despite being a no DQ match tags are still needed but then they seemed to completely forget about the rules and it becomes tornado tag rules. Go figure. The crowd were real into it as you'd expect. Both teams are really in tune with each other and we see some really good spots without the match feeling like a spot fest. Really good match and definitely worth a watch.
ECW v WWF Battle Royal:
Complete filler match. The announcer cant even be bothered announcing the names of the low carders. Complete dud.
Womens 6 woman title match:
Like the cage match I have no idea what the rules if any were for this but its actually a really good womens match. Probably the best of the year.
Alliance v the WWF
I doubt when WWF bought WCW they expected to see the WCW/ECW team led by Austin, Kurt Angle and a non wrestler Shane McMahon (eye roll). This match was a disappointment before it began. No prizes for guessing who the moles in the teams are. It begs the question if X and Y were moles why did they not just tag themselves out of the match? Why did Austin not tap out of the Rock's sharpshooter when he did in the cage match the RAW after Mania? Why did Austin try to his Rock with the belt when DQ's do matter? Why did Taker lose to a stunner but he has kicked out of it before in his feud with Austin? Why did the Alliance not break pinfall attempts like Shane did....speaking of which
Shane McMahon breaks up many pinfalls in this match (like five at least) and the referee of course does nothing because screw the rules Shane has money I guess. Good God was he annoying and not in the good way. He really inserted himself into many story lines and shouldn't have been on that team because HE IS NOT A WRESTLER. If Shane comes back I hope its not in a wrestling capacity.
Anyway the match itself was fine. Personally I am not a fan of these matches because guys get eliminated too quickly and in ways they wouldn't in any other match. That being said everybody got time to do something and it went on for a good amount of time as it should. The crowd were really into it and it told a good story and that is all that matters. The ending feels epic, as it should, like the ending to Rocky movies. It doesn't matter if it made no sense. Match of the night and maybe the year. Heyman's reaction was Godly.
Overall. A good way to end a really poor storyline. Best matches are the main event followed by the Hardy v Dudleys and the womens wrestling match.

Only one survivor series style match this year. With battle royals cage matches and lots of titles on the line. This is a good show. The survivor match is for the future of wrestling as the McMahons send out there teams for the right to survivor. This is an enjoyable match filled with Hall of fame stars but only one federation can survive the night.

This whole PPV was full of great wrestling, aside from the womens match. I loved the Immunity Battle Royal, but Test shouldn't have won, I would have liked to see Tommy Dreamer, Lance Storm, Justin Credible, Hurricane, or DDP win. But anyway, Christian vs Al Snow was a great match, and Al should be on TV much more often. The Winner Take All Match of Survival was great. I think everyone knew WWF would win over WCW/ECW, but thats not the point. I mean, with talent like RVD, Kane, Jericho, Booker T, and Angle in one match, how could WWF even screw it up? Well they didnt, and Undertaker brought back the Tombstone Piledriver and delivered it to Shane McMahon. Poor Shane, he got every finisher from team WWF. Oh well, I still cant wait for Royal Rumble 2001 :)

As a child the invasion angle seemed sooo cool. When you get older you notice the flaws that lead to this terrible match.
Verdict: Triple H was injured during the feud. That's 1 point. He would have made it worse.
- it was wwe vs mid carders with a few big wrasslers
- They could have made a more compelling story. the story we got was good for children. Which is why i liked it then and hate it now
- Too many traitors. Kurt Angle turning on the wwe at SS was so stupid. Why? What was his motive?
- Why did we have to have a terrible ending? Kurt Angle turning on the alliance was weak. A clean finish would make more sense.
- the invasion angle only lasted 5 months. I thought it lasted over a year.
- Should have kept dubya c dubya or at least nitro alive. Like other companies do when they buy companies. The format kind of stays the same despite being bought out. But they decided to kill a great show.
- Dubya c dubya wrasslers became jobbers or were released. Guys like kidman were awesome in dubya c dubya then in wwe he sucked. DDP, Even Goldberg falls into that category and etc.
- the match had so many botches that people are blind too. It was an awful match for an awful story line.

This PPV was ok. Not one of their best PPV's. It was the 10 Man elimination match to see who wins the WWF. Between Vince McMahon with the WWF. Stephanie McMahon with ECW and Shane McMahon with WCW. Well WWF won. Which was good, it was just a storyline. I think that the Survivor Series before this one was good, it was when Stone Cold Returned. This is one of my favorite PPVs. I like Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, SummerSlam and Wrestlemania. I would give this video 5/10. But its not the worst PPV I have seen, there has been worse.

European championship Christian vs Al Snow
Christian, even at this stage of his career, is one of the best in the business and it's a shame he never really received a main event push but this is some of his best work and gives a great match against Snow. 7/10
William Regal vs Tajiri
Average match with reasonable build up, Regal is a great mic worker. 6/10
Intercontinental and U.S unification match – Test vs Edge
Great match with twists turns, big boots, spears and Edge again showing why he is now a main event superstar. 8/10
Steel cage unification match WCW vs WWF tag titles – The Dudley Boys vs The Hardys
Great match involving two great tag teams and there is one reason this is memorable and that reason is Jeff Hardy. What a nutter, but by what a reason to watch. 9/10
22 immunity battle royal
Considering this has 22 wrestlers in it is over in such a short space of time, probably cause commentator Paul Hayman is moaning about Tazz. Eventual winner is hardly surprising
Women's championship – Trish vs Jacqueline vs Lita vs Mighty Molly vs Jazz vs Ivory
One of the better women wrestling matches from this period and a good deserving ending to the eventual winner
Winner take all traditional survivor series match
Shane McMahon, Booker T, RVD, Stone Cold, Angle vs Kane, Y2J, Rock, Undertaker, Big Show
Great match that brought an end to the Invasion story that could not have had a better send off. Up and down, twists and turns, controversies an ace in the hole this elimination match had everything but the kitchen sink. Jericho's finishing move here is silly and Shane is annoying but otherwise what an ending to a very good PPV

WWF Survivor Series 2001
This was among the worst events of 2001. Perhaps its biggest flaw was the fact that it didn't follow suit to most of the previous Survivor Series'. There was only ONE survivor series match. And that Survivor Series match went on for 45 minutes. What's more, anyone with a working brain would know that it would end with The Rock versus Austin and The Rock prevailing for his team. And don't get me started on the preview before the event. No matter who won it was obvious that no one was going to f***ing die. There was no need for all of that pointless hype. Whatever the storyline, it was just a wrestling event.
And as for the rest of the matches: the first match was Christian defending his European title against Al Snow. It was a good fast paced match and its good to see a heel winning a match fairly. William Regal versus Tajiri was boring and we've seen it 2 or 3 times before. Edge versus Test was good but nothing great. The tag titles steel cage match was the best match of the evening. The battle Royal went on for 10 minutes and no one really cared who'd win in the first place. The Women's title match wasn't great. No, not in the slightest. The main event must have been the most hypocritical match in history. The Alliance lost but guess what, after 5 months every single Alliance superstar returned. The match itself was poor. The Rock eliminated 3 of them and Jericho eliminated 2. The Rock was too caught up with his acting to be there when the invasion began. Jericho was the one that jeopardised the whole match. If I wanted any 2 to be eliminated in the early going it would be them. Everyone knew that Kane, Big Show and Undertaker were just fall guys. 7 matches isn't enough for a Survivor Series. If there's ever a Survivor Series as bad as this again I'll

As was the case with the previous SummerSlam event, this WWE/WCW "invasion" angle did nothing for me here--besides lead to a bunch of un-interesting matches and bland or unsure performances.
A few further thoughts...
-Christian vs. Al Snow & Edge vs. Test. Can one thing of two more white-bread, boring matches between four essentially indistinguishable wrestlers at that time?
-The Immunity Battle Royal features a whole bunch of guys no one really cares about. Not a great formula.
-The big elimination tag match is essentially a mish-mash of superstars arbitrarily separated to facilitate the "winner survives" tagline (WWF vs. WCW). Kind of a mess--and a long mess at that.
-As per the usual, only a Dudleyz/Hardyz cage match provides any juice at all to this card.
After the brilliance of WrestleMania 17, I really thought that the WWE was heading upward. That proved to be an erroneous supposition. Though extracting itself from the messy end of the Attitude Era, WWE is now at the point where the WCW angle is really bogging the company down.

After the brilliance of WrestleMania 17, I really thought that the WWE was heading upward. That proved to be an erroneous supposition. Though extracting itself from the messy end of the Attitude Era, WWE is now at the point where the WCW angle is really bogging the company down.
This was allocated to the fans as the "winner takes all" match occurred between two separate "companies" (the World Wrestling Federation and the "Alliance": an amalgamation of former WCW and ECW superstars. Because the final match to duduce the superior company was a tag-team match, the wrestlers were confined to tossing opponents from each side of the ring to another; each wrestler concludes that in order to debiliate their opponents and to intensify the match, interfernce is necessary. Each wrestler merely pummels an opponent with punches, executes a special move, and tags in a partner. The storyline had previously been tarnished by the subterfuge of Vince that a member of the Allance would be fradulent and join the WWF. It was obvious, with that statement, that the WWF would prevail. Overall: very innovative storyline but poor execution, which is not the scarcity of the wrestlers because the match format is tag-team. The remaining matches are just revolting:
Edge versus Test: potent "big boot" by Test, but this did not display the true talents of both stars
Al Snow Versus Christian: good match but superflous to the pay-per-view
Taji versus William Regal: the worst match of the night
Immunity Battle Royal: This was an outstandingly fun match to watch, but because the main stars of both companies were involved in the main event, only a wrestler who characteristically appears on "Heat" and is probably a WCW light-heavyweight reject (i.e. the Hurricane who is merely hired as an entertainer)
Hardy Boyz Versus Dudley Boyz: The best match of the night: Jeff Hardy executed a "Swanton Bomb" from the summit of a cage and through a wooden table and Matt was wedged into the cage, which appeared to be extremely painful.
Because Stone Cold was the WWF champion, Rob Van Dam was the Hardcore Champion, and Kurt Angle was a "mole" in the alliance, all fundamental stars in the main event on the faction of "the Alliance" were granted work after the match's outcome, except for Booker T., who recently attacked a wrestler on "Raw" and will inevitably be given work. Shane McMahon will return to television somehow, and everyone desired to witness the downfall and demise of "the Alliance" to see Stone Cold out of work. The WWF has done much better. A match in which all tiltes were brought to one faction would have been better, and what ever became of Casket and Iron Man matches?
