When Rajat Mukherjee wrote the script he wanted Urmila in Antara Mali's role, Fardeen Khan in Vivek Oberoi's role and Aftab Shivdasani in Manoj Bajpai's role.
Manoj Bajpai was with out work for 9 months when he received the offer to act in Road. He was spending time in Bihar with his family. After shooting for Aks, Manoj was waiting for a good script .

when the film was launched, it was titled " Ankh Micholi" starring Nana Patekar, Saif Ali Khan and Urmila. The director was Taufiq Baraskar.
