Chief among those obstacles is the question of any sort of release: after "Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1" was released in theaters on June 28th of 2024, it struggled to even get close to making its $50 million budget back at the box office, earning just $38.7 million. That figure, combined with the film's tepid critical reception, caused New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. to revamp its original plan to release "Chapter 2" of the saga on August 16th of last year, postponing the release seemingly indefinitely. This fate seems to be a current (and troubling) trend,...

Looking ahead to 2025, here are the 45 films of all genres – from horror to comedy to drama and more – we reckon you really shouldn’t miss.

Firstly, the movies you won’t be seeing, but want to namecheck. Our rules were that we didn’t want to include films that had screened, but not made it to the UK yet (with the exception of British films). Hence – sorry Kevin – the next Horizon film isn’t on the list. There’s stuff we’re watching for release dates too: Above The Below, Mother’s Pride, All Of You, and such like. We acknowledge too that there’s a Michael Jackson biopic that you won’t find below. Plus superhero films that don’t really need our help, so we limited ourselves to one or two of those.

The Santa Barbara International Film Festival landed a major win for its 40th anniversary with the U.S. premiere of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 on February 7. It was a big moment for Kevin Costner, who first introduced his ambitious four-part Western in Venice last September.

As much as co-writer, star and director Kevin Costner originally envisioned his four-film western Horizon as a saga – it is called Horizon: An American Saga, after all – the on screen drama is being rivalled by the battle to get the next film seen.

Costner has completed two of the four films thus far, and shot around nine minutes of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 3. But when the first film didn’t earn big bucks at the box office last summer, Warner Bros pulled the theatrical release of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2. A delay, we were told. Here we are, some six months after the film was supposed to be release, and there’s no sign of it on cinema release lists.

Recently, Playground Games confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will soon be coming to PS5. The game will be identical to the Xbox and PC versions, which means more than 900 cars, an open-world Mexico to explore, and two expansions will be offered to PlayStation players.

Hit 2017 action role-playing game Horizon Zero Dawn is set to receive a big-budget live-action movie adaptation. Developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game follows a young hunter named Aloy, in a world overrun by machines, who sets out to find out more about her past. Receiving critical acclaim, scooping numerous awards, and selling more than 24 million copies, the game has become one of PlayStation 4's best games, and spawned a sequel, a spin-off, and the epic game could be coming to the big screen.
