Karthik was a rising star in Telugu in 80s . Later he shifted wholly to Tamil. Wish he had done more in Telugu .He had a big fan following . Both Shobhana and Krathik have great screen presence and chemistry . Both are tall pretty and slim. Shot in green Kodiakanal , Shibhana and Rajalakshmi are twi daughters of wealthy Somayajulu . Rajalakshmi is married to Sarat babu ( who runs a music company ) and comes to her father's house for a holiday . she realises that her sister Shobhana is in love with painter Karthik . Before she could fix her sister's marriage she dies in a freak accident . Though Somayajulu comes to know about Shobhana's relation with Karthik he requests her to marry Sarat Babu for the sake of his two small children. he never forces her . finally Shobhana herself relents later and bids good bye to Karthik. she starts life afresh dedicated toher sister's family . Karthik meanwhile starts wasting away drinking painting singing .Sarat babu realises this story about Karthik much later thanx to a late delivered letter from his wife . He goes in search of Karthik and brings him back home to record his music. when Shobhana and Karthik encounter each other , both try to avoid each other's paths . Finally Sarat Babu eats some poison and lets Karthik and Shobana to live with his kids .
Nice hummable songs in lush locales . Shobhana wears skirts and pants initially but later shifts to cotton sarees as a wife . Karthik looks bloated to show his drunk status . Sarat babu is as always dependable , quite and composed all the time . A remake of Mala Sinha's Gumrah with some changes .
