For an indie movie, the directing of the movie is very professional. The resemblance of this movie to Jim Jarmush's other films is very evident. It would be better, though, if it was filmed in black and white creating strong contrasts and shadows. Humorous elements, combined with unexpected twists, keep the viewers attention riveted to the screen. The movie is reminiscent of one of my favorite movies of all times, The Barfly. As they gain more experience and financial support, these guys will eventually create a blockbuster movie, I'm certain! The movie is even more dynamic with a great soundtrack by AXA. The actors, who are relatively unknown, deliver excellent performances that are very spontaneous and realistic---not artificial or overly dramatic. This is a movie worth seeing. With the talent of these people, we will certainly see more wonderful movies from them in the future!
I saw this movie at a screening in L.A and I was very surprised at how good it was. I was told going in that it was a very low budget movie, so I assumed the worst, but it was surprisingly very good and never once thought it was low budget. It was extremely well acted and I laughed a lot. It was touching in parts and overall, very entertaining. I look forward to seeing what the director does next.
