The short won a student film award from Hanna-Barbera who eventually hired MacFarlane.
Was noticed by producers from the MAD TV series, who got MacFarlane in connection with Fox executives who eventually produced "Family Guy".
Paved the way for his first televised animated short "Larry and Steve" for Hanna-Barbera which appeared on the Cartoon Network.
Various jokes in this were later reused in early episodes of Family Guy (1999): Larry/Peter laughing at Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, the Star Trek spoof with William Shatner gesticulating wildly, people in England having drive-by arguments, God in church saying "I hate it when he tells this story!", Larry/Peter farting for the first time at age 30.
Seth MacFarlane made the short as his senior thesis film when he was a student at the Rhode Island School of Design.
