Bajirao Mastani maintained good pace in the third week as well since it was bouyed by the long weekend right at the beginning of the year. Powered by the New Year holiday, it collected around 30 crore more in its third week, and now stands around the 170 crore mark.

The good news for the film is that it is getting good number of shows in the fourth week as well, since Wazir has a niche appeal. Furthermore, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film can feel lucky with the fact that Ghayal Once Again has moved on from its 15th January release (and would now be arriving on 5th February). This gives Bajirao Mastani an opportunity to run well in the fifth week too, right till 22nd January once Airlift and Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 release.

As a result, the film would now definitely go past the Krrish 3 total of 178 crore and...

Bajirao Mastani hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. This was apparent from the fact that in each of the weekdays too, the film went on to bring around 5 crore. This reflects a wonderful hold that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has managed to demonstrate, as a result of which it now stands at the 141 crore mark.

There are no new Hindi releases this week, which means Bajirao Mastani has an added advantage to consolidate further. It would comfortably cross the 150 crore mark in its third weekend, and would be the third highest grosser in 17 days flat, hence going past the lifetime collections of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which had brought in 152 crore. This would be a major win for Eros, which now has three films in the Top-5 of 2015, including Bajrangi Bhaijaan as well.

The trailer of Ghayal Once Again will be attached with two of the most awaited films' of this year - Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani. Though the trailer will be out on December 17, it will play in the theaters from December 18, with these two films. Rohit Shetty's Dilwale throws forward two interesting developments. Shah Rukh's name comes before Kajol's in the credit titles.

In 2014 Shah Rukh announced his leading lady's name would appear before his in the credit titles. And Deepika Padukone's name did appear before Shah Rukh's in Rohit Shetty's Chennai Express and Farah Khan's Happy New Year.

But now Dilwale carries Kajol's name after Shah Rukh, apparently by mutual consent.

Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan is currently in London for the 17th London Asian Film Festival.

The Happy New Year director today attended a choreography masterclass at the Southbank Centre and a sing-along screening of Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh Khan at Prince Charles Cinema in the West End.

At the master class earlier today, Khan clarified that it’s a myth that she worked for veteran choreographer Saroj Khan during the making of Aamir Khan starrer Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. In fact, Farah was assisting the director, Mansoor Khan, and only took over as the choreographer once Saroj Khan walked out.

Farah also recalled how the same almost happened during the making of the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. “Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan called me from Switzerland and asked me if I can come the following day to shoot a song for them because Saroj Khan had not landed up on set.

I must be honest, I don’t know much about Bollywood films, but I’m interested in learning more. In fact I am planning our very first Bollywood special on Sound On Sight Radio sometime in the near future. Below you can see trailers for three upcoming films from India. The first is a Stereoscopic 3D movie called Haunted 3D. The title is pretty lame and honestly it looks like a run of the mill horror film ,but the movie is directed by Vikram Bhatt, the director of the very successful Raaz and Raaz 2.

The second trailer is for Shaitan, by director Bijoy Anurag Kashyap, the director of Black Friday (2004), a controversial and award-winning Hindi film about the 1993 Bombay bombings. Most of us here in North America would know him best for writing the Academy Award-nominated Canadian film Water (2005).

Ra. One (also known as Ra.1) is an upcoming Hindi science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha and features Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. The film will be produced under Khan’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. According to Khan, “Ra.One” means “Random Access – Version 1.0″.

Legendary composer Hans Zimmer (Inception) composed the background score for the film thus making Ra.One, Zimmer’s first Bollywood project. Apart from Zimmer, singer Akon was also roped in to sing a song for the film. Siddharth Anand’s forthcoming film,Anjaana Anjaani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra has been inspired by the award-winning American sitcom Friends.

Anand says that he remembers wanting to meet and know every character when he watched the world’s favourite group of friends hanging out at the coffee shop in the hit sitcom. He says that when Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge came out, everyone wanted to “feel and touch Raj and Simran” and he hopes that audiences will feel the same about Ranbir and Priyanka in Anjaana Anjaani.

The film has been scripted by author Advaita Kala who wrote a chick-lit novel, Almost Single. Anand asked her to develop a story that was written by his wife, Mamta.

Speaking about Ranbir and Priyanka’s characters, Anand says that they go through “extraordinary, not easily relatable circumstances and the story is about a few days that two strangers spend together.
