Judith Lucy hosted this show of basically a few interviews with Australian comics appearing at the Just For Laughs Festival in Canada. In order to stretch this show to 1 hour - most of the show is loaded with OLD clips from previous Just For Laughs, with teasers prior to the commercial breaks advertising "name acts" - such as "Coming up soon Ray Romano."
The surprise of this show was Australia's Joe Avati. I didn't know who he was. He has become one of the biggest comedy acts in North America, yet here in Australia, we barely know who is, until I checked out his website at joeavati.com - and realised that his show is bi-lingual and appeals to Italians. Judith's interview with Joe and the clips from Joe's (English) Just For Laughs performance were fantastic & funny. Almost makes me want to learn Italian so I can go to a show of his.
Overall though, the special was funny and some of the older clips chosen worked in the context of the show - although dated. Because of the dated clips, giving this a 5/10.

Here was a show that was heavily advertised but turned out to be a waste of an hour. There were some very good comics on this show, but for the most part, the show was marred by the 60 minute length - it could have been shortened to 30 min.
Part of the show had Judith Lucy interviewing Australian comedians at the Montreal Comedy Festival with the rest of the show loaded with several old and rehashed clips to flesh out the hour. The part with Fiona O'Loughlin was funny. Funniest was Joe Avati. Is Joe Avati really a huge "Australian" act in Canada? I have never heard of him before Judith had interviewed him.
Maybe next time they'll make this a 30 min show and keep it fresh rather than dredging up old clips from past Montreal Comedy Festivals - there were some clips that were 2-3 years old!!
Judith is as funny as ever - still the smart alec Aussie with a quick wit.

Judith Lucy hosts this one-off special of the comedy festival in Canada. Featuring snippets of gigs from a wide variety of comics, we enjoy Lucy's dry, laconic, yet strangely sympathetic presence as she schmoozes with the more famous artistes featured after and before gigs. Almost expected Jimeoin to turn up!
