Glen Powell is aptly one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood today. While his debut came way back in Spy Kids in 2003, the 35-year-old has seen multiple successful roles come his way in the last few years. Now looking forward to the release of Twisters, Powell has appeared in movies such as Anyone But You and Top Gun: Maverick, and generally finds himself in high demand.
However, that did not seem true to the actor when during his years of struggle. Powell went to his fair share of failed auditions but has never been the kind of person who would take things negatively. The actor has been utterly professional right from the start, and spent years getting rejected for a plethora of major roles.

Glen Powell has undeniably conquered Hollywood with his iconic roles in films such as Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. Still, he had a humble beginning that many fans are probably unaware of. Before he became the nation’s newest heartthrob, he used to be a contestant in a teen reality show.

Any actor starting out in the film industry goes through harsh times before crossing over to the other side. But not all actors get to go to the other side, only the boldest of bold go on to accomplish such a feat. For instance, it wasn’t until Sylvester Stallone boldly wrote his own film, Rocky, that he ascended to Hollywood legend status. And so it was for Glen Powell.

Glen Powell was the hit of the summer. That winning smile, the Texas charm, the confidence mixed with dorkiness that permeated his characters in the blockbuster “Twisters,” screwball Netflix comedy “Hit Man” and traditional rom-com “Anyone but You.”
Hollywood’s no stranger to “it” stars of the moment, and each charts his or her own course that may or may not manifest the next Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts. But as the conversation around whether Powell is a “movie star” surged, the actor seized his in-demand status and took a different route: creating his own destiny.
As Glen Powell Summer was heating up, the actor was offered the lead in the next “Jurassic World” movie — a reboot to a franchise that’s made over $6 billion worldwide and that Chris Pratt carried over the last three movies.
He turned it down.

Glen Powell isn’t the only movie star in his family.
The Anyone But You actor’s parents, Glen Powell Sr. and Cyndy Powell, have made cameos in nearly all of his films, continuing the tradition with his latest movie, Twisters.
Powell first drew attention to his parents’ involvement in his work with the rom-com sleeper hit Anyone But You, in which they played airline passengers sitting next to him while Sydney Sweeney’s character performed elaborate gymnastics over him.
This charming inclusion of his family has become a hallmark of Powell’s films.
Despite lacking any formal acting experience, Glen Sr., an executive coach, and Cyndy, a stay-at-home parent, have embraced the challenge.

As far as child actor debuts, it's not quite Hailee Steinfeld in Joel and Ethan Coen's "True Grit." But now that the whole world knows full well that Glen Powell is a bona fide movie star (a fact getting slammed home with a tempestuous fury this week in "Twisters"), we can look back at his first big-screen appearance in Robert Rodriguez's 2003 film "Spy Kids 3: Game Over" and kind of see it.
Powell's big scene arrives early in the movie, when Juni (Daryl Sabata) wanders into a massive arena. It's here Juni meets the Long-fingered Boy (identified as such only in the credits), who zips the Spy Kid up to the top of a tower, throws him into a robotic suit, and informs him he'll be doing battle with a formidable combatant named Demetra (Courtney Jines). Glen Powell is having a moment. Propelled by the box office success of "Anyone But You," and its subsequent streaming domination, the most handsome man you've ever seen is slowly taking over Hollywood. His Richard Linklater-directed Netflix film "Hitman" quickly conquered the streamer's charts when it debuted in June, and Powell will soon guide us all into the eye of the suck zone with the upcoming blockbuster legacy sequel "Twisters." Soon after, Powell will face what might be his biggest test yet in Edgar Wright's upcoming adaptation of "The Running Man." But considering the man's resilience — his first film role was in the more-than 20-year-old "Spy Kids 3" — he should be up to the challenge.
It hasn't been an easy road from "Spy Kids" to leading man, however. Take "Misconduct" for instance. You've likely never heard of this 2016 legal thriller, which is probably for the best considering the...

As the Internet is now learning, Glen Powell had a tiny role in 2012’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ playing a trader at the Gotham Stock exchange who ends up a victim of Bane’s (Tom Hardy) wrath. What fans of the film might not know is that Hardy actually slammed Powell’s head into the keyboard on the final take.
Speaking with IMDb, Powell recalled how things went sideways. “He’s supposed to give me a little bit of a tap on the back of the head. So, we did it a few times. We all nail it. It was great. And then this last time … he just slammed my head on the keyboard. And I remember just, like, getting kind of dazed.”
But Powell chalked it up to both actors being immersed in their roles. “I think we all just got kind of caught up in it,” he said.
According to Powell, cinematographer Wally Pfister then joked that he forgot to roll camera, prompting director Christopher Nolan to ask, “You think you can do it again just like that?”
Powell’s response? “Absolutely!”
Nolan then let him off the hook, admitting, “We’re kidding. Go see a medic.”
To celebrate the premiere of Netfix’s ‘Hit Man,’ Powell sat down with IMDb to throw the Ultimate Watch Party by choosing snacks and essentials for screening the film at home.

In addition to his Bane encounter, he talked how he and Sydney Sweeney brought realism to their romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You,’ and shared what it’s like collaborating with frequent collaborator director Richard Linklater.

Actor Glen Powell was propelled to new heights of stardom when he starred as Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick. The Tom Cruise-starrer was the highest-grossing film of 2022 and was even nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Powell’s role as an arrogant yet principled Navy pilot received positive responses from fans and critics alike.
Though Powell portrayed Hangman to perfection, that was not the first role he auditioned for. The actor reportedly first hoped to star as Rooster, the role that eventually went to Miles Teller. However, after being rejected from the role and not being impressed with Hangman on the page, Powell was convinced by Cruise to take the character.

At 35, Glen Powell has quickly risen to fame as one of Hollywood’s currently most desired faces. The acclaimed actor, with his acting prowess and stunning physique, quickly gained prominence following his breakout role in the comedy-horror Scream Queens and arguably one of his most passionate projects yet alongside Tom Cruise in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick.
However, he already had one of his foot into the showbiz territory as far back as when he was 13 with a role in a now cult-classic franchise.

Additionally, co-starring with some of the biggest names in the industry, he also gained immense expertise, built unshakable connections, and etched his name into cinema history. Glen Powell Reveals Why He “Ran Away” from Hollywood and Why He Turned Down the New ‘Jurassic’ Movie
He is 35 years old and he comes from Austin, TX. He is an actor and you’ve probably seen him in Top Gun: Maverick, but don’t remember him as he was not Tom Cruise. Since then, his career has been on an upward spiral, and he has had some very successful projects. His name is Glen Powell and the actor has finally managed to “conquer Hollywood” at the age of 35, which is also when he decided to retreat a bit and go back to his roots. Okay, he’s not quitting, and he has many plans for the future, but the Texan has decided to take a different approach to fame.
In a major interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Powell discussed his career, his internal struggles, as well as his future plans, revealing that while we won’t be seeing him, we will still be seeing him everywhere at the same time.

When Glen Powell was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in Austin May 15, there was one obvious person to give him the honor: The director who discovered Powell, when the actor was just 14 years old, Robert Rodriguez.
Powell grew up in Austin right at the moment that it was starting to become a solid film production hub, thanks in large part to Rodriguez, the auteur behind “El Mariachi” and “From Dusk Till Dawn” and who’d founded Austin’s Troublemaker Studios. When Rodriguez was casting for “Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over,” he was looking for a number of “local hires” to round out the cast.
“I remember distinctly how surprised I was [by Powell] because we’d cast a bunch of people from L.A.,” Rodriguez told IndieWire at the red carpet for the induction — which was also the Austin premiere of Netflix’s “Hit Man,” starring Powell and directed by Richard Linklater.

Glen Powell might just be a perfect man — at least, that’s how his former castmates and collaborators describe the Top Gun: Maverick actor.
Powell received lavish praise while attending his Texas Hall of Fame induction hosted by the Austin Film Society on Thursday night, an event timed to the upcoming release of the actor’s Netflix movie Hit Man, which reunites Powell and his Everybody Wants Some!! writer-director Richard Linklater.
The event at Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios included speeches from Rodriguez (who first cast Powell in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over), Linklater, Tom Cruise (previously taped) and his Hit Man co-stars Adria Arjona, Retta and Sanjay Rao.
Arjona referenced the recent “summer of Glen Powell” headlines, which refer to the 35-year-old starring in Hit Man (which has a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and then, a month later, the highly anticipated sequel Twisters.

Featuring Sylvester Stallone in what sounds like a rare villain role, action thriller Alarum has just finished shooting. Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald also star.
The Shakespearian-sounding Alarum, an action thriller starring Sylvester Stallone, has just finished filming – and like Brad Anderson’s World-Breaker, is another mid-budget genre film looking for distribution at Cannes this week.
Directed by Michael Polish (Terror On The Prairie), Alarum appears to have cast Stallone in a rare villain role. To the best of our recollection, the only other time Sly’s played an antagonist was in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over in 2003.
Alarum’s leads are Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald, who play a pair of professional assassins who are off on a romantic break when they find themselves pursued by murderous CIA agents – the scariest of them played by Stallone.

"Anyone But You" became a surprise hit when it arrived in theaters back in December 2023. In an age where everyone is used to superhero movies and the odd horror flick doing well at the box office, surely a rom-com starring two lesser-known stars whose careers are only just starting to get going wasn't going to hit? But hit, it did. "Anyone But You" passed box office milestones, making an impressive $216 million worldwide on just a $25 million budget. Oh, and it was also based on a William Shakespeare play.
It might seem strange to think that a loose adaptation of the Bard's "Much Ado About Nothing," could be so surprisingly popular, but perhaps "Anyone But You" is ushering in a new era of cool Shakespeare adaptations, á la Leonardo DiCaprio with "Romeo + Juliet" back in the mid-'90s. Either way, the film's success certainly went a long way to...

The ultra-charming and very handsome actor Glen Powell is having quite a run right now, but my dude is far from an overnight success. His first role was as "Long-fingered Boy" in Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids 3" more than 20 years ago, and since then, he's been steadily building his way to stardom. Small roles in "The Great Debaters," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "The Expendables 3" laid the groundwork for his star-making, charisma-filled performance in 2016's "Everybody Wants Some!!" In 2018, he helped resurrect the rom-com with the one-two punch of Netflix films "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" (a delightful and underrated gem) and the more popular "Set It Up" opposite Zoey Deutch, which launched him to Internet Boyfriend status.

Carla Gugino recently told BuzzFeed that her beloved role in Robert Rodriguez’s 2001 family action film “Spy Kids” was “physically totally impossible.” The actor was 27 years old when she filmed the movie and played Ingrid Cortes, the mother of two spies. By Gugino’s math, the character didn’t add up.
“It is so funny because I was 27,” Gugino recounted. “It was a really beautiful kind of double-edged sword because I love that movie so much. And the whole experience was incredible, and the movies continue.”
“I love Ingrid Cortes. But it was funny because I was 10 years, at least, too young for the role because I was a spy for 10 years and then somehow had children who were like 9 and 11,” she continued with a laugh. “So it was physically totally impossible.”

Expendables 4 or Expend4bles was the final nail in the coffin for the renowned Sylvester Stallone action franchise that made a name for bringing some iconic stars together on screen. The fourth and latest film in the franchise was a critical and commercial disaster. Adding more to its list of injuries, the film also gave Sylvester Stallone a Razzie for the Worst Supporting Actor.

One of the most exciting movie releases of 2024 just got its first trailer. "Hit Man," the latest film by acclaimed indie director Richard Linklater (the man responsible for "School of Rock") received near-universal praise when it screened at film festivals in the fall of last year, and now audiences can finally get a taste of what the fuzz is about. Turns out, a lot of it may just be the chance to see Glen Powell dressing up in a lot of silly outfits. You know what, though? We're fully in.
"Hit Man" sees the latest collaboration between Powell and Linklater after "Everybody Wants Some!!" and "Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood," and this time they also co-wrote the script together, based on the 2001 Texas Monthly magazine article of the same name by Skip Hollandsworth (who also wrote the article that inspired Linklater's "Bernie" as well as co-writing that screenplay...

Glen Powell is only 35 years old, but he’s been around the movie business since he was 10, with his first credit coming as a 14-year-old in “Spy Kids 3D: Game Over” as Long-Fingered Boy. That means, even though he’s only been a part of Hollywood’s A-List for the past few years, he has a much longer filmography to his name — and he’s confident in naming his favorite film experience to date. No, it’s not playing Long-Fingered Boy.
“I’m just trying to make movies that I’d want to see, and I think ‘Everybody Wants Some!!’ will be my favorite movie I’ve ever made in my whole life,” the actor told Vogue in a new interview. “There’s not going to be a more charmed, lovely experience. When that movie ended, I sobbed as I was shaving off my thin mustache.”

Who is Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone? Depending on your age, he's Rocky Balboa, John Rambo, Lieutenant Marion "Cobra" Cobretti, Lincoln Hawk, or maybe even The Toymaker in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over." If you're a diehard film nut, he's the third person ever to be nominated for the Academy Award for writing and acting in the same year, following Charlie Chaplin and Orson Welles. If you're Italian-American, he's a golden God to whom all our fathers pray. And if you're just Ken, he's the definitive measure of American masculinity. For nearly half a century, Sylvester Stallone has been a mainstay of U.S. cinema, and his genuine rags-to-riches underdog tale is one of the most inspirational and aspirational career stories in Hollywood history.
Now, Netflix is releasing a new documentary called "Sly" that chronicles Stallone's career and provides an intimate look at the Renaissance Man behind the multi-million dollar franchises.

Carmen, Juni, and the rest of the Cortez family are back for another butt-kicking spy adventure. In April, Netflix announced that Robert Rodriguez, the original director of the 2000s action films, signed on to write and direct an upcoming "Spy Kids" reboot movie. Skydance Media optioned the film rights to Netflix with the intention of reimagining the spy thriller for a modern audience, according to Variety.
Officially titled "Spy Kids: Armageddon," the new project will be the fifth installment in the "Spy Kids" franchise, following the original 2001 "Spy Kids" and it's three sequels: "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams," "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over," and "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World." The "Avatar" movies are responsible for some stunning world-building. The franchise's best quality is how it transports you to an alien world that feels real, to the point where you might get depressed after watching. The film has landscapes you would want to visit, flora you want to touch, animals you want to run away from after they try to kill you, and cultures that feel rich in detail. Never mind that the scripts aren't the best or the most original, because the movies are not about that, they are about experiencing something you can only experience in the theater watching the film, and about the world of Pandora.
A big part of why Pandora feels so lived-in is the VFX artistry involved, from the environments and the mind-blowing water simulations of "The Way of Water," to the varied creatures that inhabit the world, and the performance capture that bring the Na'vi to life.

For Hallmark's A Paris Proposal, Alexa PenaVega returned to the city of lights to film for the first time since she starred in Spy Kids 3.
The movie isn't filmed in its entirety in Paris, but just enough to lend it the authentic flavor necessary to bring it to life.
Alexa stars as Anna, an advertising executive who travels to Paris with her coworker Sebastian (Nicholas Bishop) to land an important account.
When the client, who owns the famed Durant Diamonds, mistakenly believes they are a happy couple, Anna and Sebastian believe they have no choice but to go along with it to make the deal.
Alexa was thrilled to return to Paris. "It's amazing. Paris is such a special place. The last time I was there, I was so much younger, and I didn't really get to appreciate it the way you do when you go back as an adult.

It will mark his second family film for Netflix, on the heels of the 2020 actioner We Can Be Heroes. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, which is overseeing development and production, with Elizabeth Avellan and Racer Max also producing. Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre will executive produce for Spyglass, which owns the Spy Kids franchise.

Sylvester Stallone is no stranger to churning out sequels having played Rocky Balboa eight times as well as headlining six Rambo movies and three Expendables, and that’s without even mentioning his appearances in follow-ups to franchises he wasn’t originally involved in like Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
One of his lesser-known endeavors though is the Escape Plan series, with a lot of people probably unaware that the 2013 original would go on to spawn two direct-to-video sequels. Despite the action icon admitting that 2018’s second installment Hades was the worst movie he’s ever been a part of, which is a damning indictment from someone with 34 Razzie nominations under their belt, he still went ahead and made third entry The Extractors the very next year.
Though the entire selling point of the movie was the first major collaboration between Sylvester Stallone and...

Amazon Prime’s new releases in June 2020 is fairly lacking in original material. That’s to be expected for a streaming service that focuses on quality over quantity to begin with now going through a pandemic content crunch.
Standup special Gina Brillon: The Floor Is Lava, Joseph Gordon-Levitt film 7500, and Pete the Cat season 2 are the only originals arriving this month. And that’s fine as Amazon is about to be home to one of 2019’s most fun films. That’s right – Knives Out makes its debut on June 12. It might be awhile before we get to see the next Benoit Blanc mystery so hopefully this will tide us over.
June 1 also sees the arrival of Dirty Dancing, Kingpin, and the tragically underrated Sex Drive. It’s not the most impressive month Amazon has ever had, but at least you still get free shipping.
