This is an amazingly funny and well-produced short film from Educational Films--a company that made many low-budget comedies in the 1930s. Despite the budget and that this is a "lesser" film studio, this is a top-notch short film--with amazingly good writing, hilarious songs and pacing. In style, this film is a lot like the exceptional Three Stooges film MEN IN BLACK and even a little bit like DUCK SOUP with the singing.
The star of this film is Billy Gilbert, though he didn't get top billing. Gilbert was a long-time supporting actor in Hollywood and he worked with all the big-name comedy stars, such as Laurel & Hardy, the Stooges and Chaplin. Here he plays "Dr. Hofbrau"--the head of the hospital. By the way, Hofbrau means "house brew" and is a very famous beer from Munich. The hospital is staffed by a motley crew of incompetents who seem to leave 1001 different things inside their patients by accident during surgery (such as boots) and the staff is much better at singing and dancing that actually helping patients. But, because the songs are so funny, the pace so frenetic and the whole experience so cheerful, you can't help but laugh and have a good time. A truly weird but wonderful forgotten film.

Hilarious, chaotic burlesque musical short features Billy Gilbert as a German doctor in search of a missing watch. Such touches as cheering sections at operations and musical numbers at "Olivia from Bolivia". Impeccable timing makes this a not-to-be-missed short.
This is a wonderful fast paced comic short with Billy Gilbert as the German accented Dr. Hofbrau in charge of surgery in a very wacky hospital.
Poor Intern Johnny Downs has misplaced the watch that Sally Sweet gave him as a token of their love. X-rays show it is lost in a patient so Dr. Gilbert has to go in.
Of course they find all kinds of items when they do go in, you'd be surprised what the human body can hold.
Nifty Nurses has a few nifty females in it all right. The kind of care they give is morale building to say the least. If it weren't for the big potential for malpractice, getting sick might be fun.
Nifty Nurses also just beat it under the Code. You have to listen close or you'll miss a line or two.
